The only time that paying someone else’s lawyer can be a problem is when you also have an interest in the case and the lawyer you hire is considering your interests as well, rather than the interests of the actual clients. For example, if you are Donald Trump and you want a witness to take the 5th and you pay their lawyer to advise the client to do that, it’s unethical and maybe obstruction of justice.
“We were training it in simulation to identify and target a Surface-to-air missile (SAM) threat. And then the operator would say yes, kill that threat. The system started realizing that while they did identify the threat at times the human operator would tell it not to kill that threat, but it got its points by killing that threat. So what did it do? It killed the operator. It killed the operator because that person was keeping it from accomplishing its objective,” Hamilton said, according to the blog post. Which it turns out he completely fucking made up so the article changed completely.
One of the problems of our age is that people are too quick to believe claims about opponents and too quick to dismiss claims about allies. That leaves people vulnerable to con artists
Running with clearly biased accounts like the one from The Intercept and claims from defendants is always dangerous
I used to work as an Assistant Public Defender so i know in fraud cases you without judgement until you see the books
Police culture really went downhill since the drug war, and only got worse after all they could get given the lack of respectability and such were siege-minded stop-lossed people from the Gulf Wars. Throw in every redneck and his brother out there with a military arsenal and a sense of being above decency and law themselves, a lot of this is kind of understandable. If not-ok in the case of the development deal and how they treated the protestors about it.
One thing this is all a smokescreen about is how real estate developers are the winners here as in so much. I mean the old facility was actually falling apart and not really adequate, but also on land that's worth a chunk, itself, see?
It's always SWAT time somewhere....
Sounds like the Brownshirts would *love* that. Live targets to practise on.

Do police unions pay the bail for murdering cops? If so, shouldn’t they be charged with being an accessory or co-conspirator, under their reasoning?

Agreed. Sometimes those who are very dedicated to the cause aren't adept at the paperwork. Sometimes, of course, it's a scam.

Hamilton was making up a bullshit story, it turns out.
That was a serious damn rewrite.
Just for her testimony scene alone, Marisa Tomei deserved her Oscar.

And Microsoft Paint is terrible, so there ya go.
But they won while a Republican was president, so no biggie.
Thank you, Robyn!
We get the police we ask for. New Zealand decided to ask for better cops and it worked.

If this is the new policy, it is going to be hard to be a bail bondsman. (It already is pretty hard.)
