I want to put in a plug for the Kilham Bear Center in Lyme , NH, not far from where live. They take in orphaned black bears and raise them so that they can successfully be returned to the wild, which means no visitors. But they do post videos, and the cubs are "a doorbell" as my daughter would say when she was little.

I cannot imagine my own father standing by while that happened. I just can't. My marriage WAS NOT that kind of abuse, but still, I did not leave my husband until after my father died, because I knew as old and as sick as he was, my Dad would have tried to beat him up.
I'm sorry for this woman AND HER CHILD, who were betrayed by the two men in their life who were supposed to love and protect them.
I could. Eons ago when my mentally, emotionally, & physically abusive ex and I finally split, my dad kept up a relationship of sorts with him for awhile afterwards & would often sing his praises to me.
But then again, since my father was also horrifically abusive towards my mother before she left him after 20+ years of marriage, so he thought my ex was a great guy regardless of what he did to me.
It's suuuuper shitty when parents take the side of their child's abuser, & that's definitely part of the reason why I haven't spoken to my father in over 20 years.
I am sorry you went through that. I can understand why you are NC with your father. I know I am lucky I had the Dad I had. He's been gone for 23 years, and I still miss him.
