Here's something I posted over at LGF, mocking the people who want to de-fund planned parenthood and believe the stories about them selling baby parts.

Look How Evil Planned Parenthood Is! http://littlegreenfootballs...

I don't think that a "pro life" extremists would have written, something like that, and I think it should be obvious to you as to why.

You mention anti abortion celebrities, and Aimee Murphy who was only attending the event, not a speaker, but you failed to acknowledge the women there speaking on behalf of themselves. You devalue the women there who were treated very poorly, who truly suffered after their abortions, who didn't receive proper care. You'd rather tear down celebrities than hear the real stories of real women. You missed the story about the woman who lost part of her cervix. You missed the woman who felt she had no choice, but was offered no options. You ignored the women who spoke about the doctor treating her like livestock, refusing to speak to her. Ignore the professional pro lifers. Where is your feminism when you value the the hype and the political nature of abortion rights over the brokenness of real women?

What's so hard to grasp about teaching sex education and prevention of an unplanned/unwanted pregnancy where everyone suffers, especially the children? And the rights of women to have a choice if they find themselves in that situation? How many starving, abused, neglected children already in this overpopulated world have YOU protected or saved today??

Don't worry about me. I'm explaining to you the position of the opposing side, so you can make better judgment than calling someone a fool. As to the rights of women -- it's quite simple. If a fetus is a human being, then it has a right to life. And one human being's right to life trumps other human being's right to chose. That's the issue.

Expand full comment

That's your issue, not mine. And you completely ignore the fact that you aren't giving the same 'right' to life to ALL children born, or unborn in this world. Hipocrasy in MY opinion is foolish and ignorant, thus calling it as I see it. As for judgement? Why would yours be any ' better' than mine or anyone else's? And if you aren't a woman, who is the only person that should make decisions about her own body, maybe you should just stfu.

Sure I do. Right to life is the right to be free from being killed. Don't try to add wrinkles to it. And a judgement is always better when informed.

But sure, I'll shut the fuck up. If it helps you sleep at night.

Aimee Murphy is the President of Life Matters Journal, a Consistent Life Ethic organization that educates against all forms of aggressive and unjust violence, including abortion, the death penalty, euthanasia, unjust war, embryonic stem cell research, torture and human trafficking.

I interviewed her on Wednesday for a show that simulcasts on Catholic television and radio in San Antonio, Texas. We spent at least equal time talking about how the death penalty and drone warfare are affronts to human dignity, as time spent talking about abortion. One of her most emphatic points was that you cannot be pro-life and support the death penalty.

So, yeah. Not a big fan of war and capital punishment.

Life Matters Journal also partners with the Pro-Life Allies, a group of nontraditional pro-life groups including LGBTQ For Life, Atheists and Agnostics for Life, Secular Pro-Life, Feminists for Non-violent Choices, former abortion workers, and New Wave Feminists. Aimee was at this year's Regional Consistent Life Ethic Conference held at St. William's Catholic Church in Round Rock, Texas, which hosted talks about poverty, the death penalty, racism, feminism and abortion. Destiny Herndon-De la Rosa & Kristen of New Wave Feminists presented there too. Afterward, everyone grabbed a molotov cocktail and threw it at a local Planned Parenthood.

No, wait, I'm confusing them with this lady.

You're totally right. Every single Planned Parenthood across America is constantly being firebombed and shot at, all hours of the day and night, every single day.

And not just by this lady:

I may not agree with her views, but at least she's consistent, so I can't call her a raging hypocrite.

You might try being a little less cutesy but I won't hold my breath waiting for that.

Ok. You may hate my views, but you have to fair. Murphy was misquoted. She said the word "tenet." The reporter made the mistake. I have talked to her personally and to four or five people standing next to her at the time. Make fun of her views all you want but please don't make fun of her for something she did not do. She used the proper word.

None of that has anything to do with the individual women whose stories were told. Those experiences were true for them, and even if they were the ONLY women in the ENTIRE world who ever experienced those things, their experiences were valid. Their voices were genuine. Their pain should have been respected. Those women should not have been ignored and dismissed. The answer to women who have had horrible experiences is to give empathy and try and prevent others from suffering the same way. Which pro-lifers are doing for these women, whether you agree with their methods or not.

While the women mentioned above deserve sympathy for their plight, they do not get to deny other women the right to make their own choices for their reproductive health.

Hilarious that Palin is speechifying in front of a group of people who can't stand the slutty sluts, while her darling, sainted daughter is knocked up once again by a man who has no intention of marrying her. I guess it's the old "do as I say, not as I do."
