All the other PCPs are nurse practitioners, my favorite of whom has a doctorate in nursing, and sometimes sees "peedies" as well. I'm very glad to report that a lot of the kids who are seen in our clinic are often there to get their shots.

I'm not sure about other regions of the country, but there are spots in the rural Deep South, particularly Appalachia, where suspicion of modern medicine seems to be baked into the community itself.

Actually, the naturopath who sometimes came to the same yarn shop as me as the same time for stitch-and-gab asked if I was getting eldest the "shots" refering to both vit K and the hep shots. I said yep. She looked as horrified as if I said "and after this i'm gonna meander to that bar a block away and down 5 rum and cokes." Mr Demi is blind from congenital rubella, I'm deaf in one ear from scarlet fever. We're late xers from suburban Connecticut; this shit can happen to _anyone_, even a fucking Kennedy.
A darkly cynical take is these people are demonstrating the process of natural selection by making stupidity fatal enough to hamper the transmission of genes.
Unfortunately they achieve this by making it fatal to people who aren't themselves and have no say in the matter. What unspeakable little turds.
Yup. This functionally achieves the same thing since getting your offspring killed before they themselves reproduce breaks the transmission chain all the same, and basically illustrates the selection pressures that produced effective parental care behaviour in the first place.

Routine childhood immunization that prevents polio, tetanus, rubella measles, mumps, meningitis. The papilloma virus vaccine that reduces greatly the possibility of cervical cancer.
