Barack Obama made a bit of history Thursday, becoming the first sitting president to visit a federal prison. This follows a pretty impressive speech to the NAACP Wednesday, in which he said some things that, for a Democrat in earlier decades, would have prompted months of conservatives howling about the president being "soft on crime" -- and other Democrats attempting damage control by sponsoring Get Tuff legislation.
You can tell how right the President is by how much squealing comes out of the wingnuts. Especially when it forces them to acknowledge that there are hard realities that all the ignorance in the world can't disguise.

He can occasionally put this weird idea in my head where I'm like "Maybe a politician doesn't have to be a completely soulless opportunist to find success" and it makes me happy. But then I see someone on Facebook call him the N-word, and I'm like "eh nothing matters."
