The face-eating leopards principle applies to Weiss, who conveniently ignores that the US right wing has been pandering to antisemitism for decades, from the Red Scare and John Birch Society through today’s “cultural Marxism” and “globalism” and “anti-Christian entertainment elite.”

A quota hire. They are always anxious to have a certain number of wingnut bigots on the payroll to fend off accusations of liberal bias. Which never works but they just keep trying.

Based on their logic, we can assume all Mormon elected officials all have harems of 13-year-old girls, right?

And Southern Baptists are all Klan members? And Catholics all secretly are doing the bidding of the Whore of Rome? And all the "globalists" are, well, globalists?

Rags's avatar

I suspect strongly that the Catholics on scotus are pretty much not following the bidding of the Bob of Rome on many issues

I’m sure Bari Scheiss’ 60 Minutes will dust off this “classic” soon and revamp it as a “special report” to scaremonger about the T folk in the acronym.

No, that's not it either. Hmmm. I'll have to get back to you on that.

Somewhere there’s an instruction manual for aspiring right-wing demagogues that emphasizes Trump’s desire for every issue to be about Scary Non-White People.

OT: Amazingly, the DOJ may have screwed up on those voter fraud arrests. One woman who has had a green card forever, was accused of fraudulently registering to vote in 2006. She says she never has voted and doesn't remember ever registering. She's also charged with lying to an immigration officer during her naturalization app that the only people in her house registered to vote were her husband and daughter. They dragged one guy out of his house -- recovering from knee replacement surgery and had him shackled in court. His family thinks they have him mixed up with his son who has the same name. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/california-residents-accused-by-feds-of-voter-fraud-react-with-shock-confusion-and-anger/ar-AA2fCtvA?ocid=winp2fptaskbarhover&cvid=6ad797d935ea425f8e28818bb1abe84b&ei=38

Exactly as I said when the arrests were announced.

pstokk's avatar

Is there a federal law against a non-citizen *registering* to vote, or just voting?

Even if registering is illegal, I would think that unless they have paperwork showing a signature or other indication of active and intentional violation as well as lying on a form regarding citizenship, it should be easy to get a court to throw it out, or? Just existing on an electoral roll, seems like a clerical error could cause that, say at the DMV.

cmd Human Scum's avatar

The article mentions the DMV issue. The Florida voter registration app lists things like being a citizen, over 18, etc., and says not to use this form if you don't meet all the requirements. Then there's an oath at the signature and you affirm that you are qualified. So the article I read yesterday said it's a crime to lie on one of those forms (although you would think it's a state crime but who knows). Voting when you have not met the qualifications is a separate crime. I don't know what you do to register at the DMV, but i bet it is possible to check a box while not meaning to, or the person doing your form asks you the question. Come to think of it when I renewed my license they may have asked if I was registered to vote, but since I was, I don't know what the next step in the process would have been.

wow, the barbarity, shackling a recovering surgical patient for a minor offense allegedly committed 20 years ago?

This is nothing but state terrorism

Ha, I read it in sixth grade, because my parents were deeply involved in the samizdat and soviet jewry movements and everyone was talking about it then, read the first volume, and the Cancer Ward, which affected me tremendously.

Trump engaged in a thoughtful, extended conversation with—nothingness. He suddenly stopped, waved, saluted, offered greetings, and chatted for a bit with the empty space. 😁🤭

The cameraman deliberately zoomed out to show that there was absolutely no one to be seen for hundreds of meters in any direction.

Apparently, Trump received a visit from the very same "invisible person"—the kind of encounter he had previously mocked Joe Biden for supposedly having.

He was just granting an audience to the Great Gazoo. I suppose that is a sufficiently dated cultural reference.

except that video of Biden was deceptively edited as he was talking to a group of parachutists who had landed and were cropped out of the frame deliberately.

Bari will likely soon learn that, as a married lesbian, the GOP she so frequently advocates for will someday come for her.

Mavenmaven's avatar

The GOP only gets furious with LGBT women when they are young and attractive, as they feel like they have the right to f*** them.

ElderlyLoudCatWomyn's avatar

Sadly, many young women believe they can buy their way into the brotherhood-of-white-guys with praise, hard work and ass kissing. At some point, as we have seen with many disillusioned maga women, they learn that they can't.
