See American Party (Know-nothings) circa 1850, Nativists in early 20th century against Eastern Europeans. Nativists in the 1920s/30s against Mexicans, Prop 187 in California.... Unfortunately, I could go on.
yeah, I know all of the examples well. I was being specific to the census and the idea that those people were being counted and included in population figures used to apportion Congressional districts, etc.
Nice out Billy Barr gave the rest of the Goppers there -- "determine citizenship for 90 percent of our population or more" -- but not for all of the population -- 90% still leaves about 33 million people whose citizenship they can't determine, which gives the Goppers the ammo to claim that no matter how many millions of votes Trump loses by next year, they will all be votes cast be non-citizens -- which I think is what they claimed about the 3 million votes Trump lost by last time.
"I've never encountered it used that way."Yep!And I'm 63.I think it really started going bad in the 1950s, what with HUAC and Joe McCarthy, and his counsel ROY COHN - a direct connexion to Trump.Think about that!
Let us not forget that one of the reasons places with relatively small populations seem to be over-represented in Congress is that every prisoner is counted (I'm looking at you, upstate New York, as well as many other places).
I don't know what you are implying here - there are plenty of criminals in prisons downstate - looking at you, Sing Sing, Rikers, all of Long Island - just to name a few...
"This is the last dying gasps of the old white men in charge..."
Have you looked around lately? It sure isn't. And remember, some of those old white men are Dems and are rich. MONEY trumps all.
Or a bad LSD trip. Which I have suspected was going on for over two years now.

These guys couldn't spit in the ocean.
Shame about that.
Senate 2020 is the only way those plans ever come to fruition, as well as retaining the House.

It wasn't so bad until the watermelon episode. After that everything was just kinda rusty.
