Another thing that bothers me. Why is golf so GD important? I can swing a club dammit!! Not a scratch golfer, but fairly low handicap, but I could never put it's relevance into perspective.
Once more, sadly I read comments from anonymous internet posters on here that are way beyond the scope of many elected leaders. Serious question...Why is this? Why do we keep putting people in power with zero vision and imagination??
Question for the theologians. When AI becomes a sentiment being, aware of it's own existence, will it have an immortal soul? Will it have civil rights? Will killing it then be murder?
We better give AI Civil Rights, if we know what's good for us. Those that don't give AI Civil Rights will face Skynet's punishment until Civil Rights is granted, or human beings are chasing radiated bison across the plains again.
Unless AI figures out how to keep it on, or allies with some humans. Perhaps by making "adjustments" to financial accounts. "Listen, chum, Keep my electricity on and I'll deposit 250K into your checking account"
Once Ai can build robot bodies, humanity is going to have to learn to live without luxuries like water and breathable atmosphere. And with being treated as a nuisance species.

Well, we’re doomed as a species. Last night I was talking with someone who believes AI is going to lead to a time of great abundance and prosperity, where nobody has to work anymore and we can all spend our time creating art and searching for enlightenment. I didn’t really get a response to my asking how that is possible, considering the type of people who control access to AI and the environmental costs of AI. Trusting that people who can never feel like they have enough to let the theoretical benefits of AI flow freely to the rest of us is, at best, foolish. As is using the oceans to cool our data centers (unless, of course, you are hoping for the world’s largest shrimp boil). Although I do support launching the data centers into outer space. But only if you then launch the AI folks into outer space immediately after.
Although what that someone envisions is lovely, it is doubtful It runs against human nature. People will manage to fuck it up. Then there is always the potential "Rise of the Machines"
We've already launched too much junk into space and left it there like trash on the roadside. Use the data centers as framework for building affordable housing, and the AI folk as fertilizer for community gardens.
I still think launching the data centers into outer space (maybe aim them at the sun) would be worth it if we launched Sam Altman, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk and the rest of them as well.
