You see that face right there? That is a face of a man who is swelling with joy after casting the tie-breaking vote allowing states to block federal family-planning grants to Planned Parenthood. That is a man who is literally tickled thinking about all the women who will no longer have access to affordable reproductive care. He's got visions of sugarplums and
I figure in a big tent party, you can be open to people who aren't rigidly for lots of things, but I bet his answer would have been different if the question had been "Can Dems be open to candidates that aren't rigidly anti-Wall Street?" (And I don't know why he speaks for the Dem party now, anyway, given that he is still not a Dem.)
Me personally, I'm getting more and more "rigidly" pro-choice. I used to be more understanding of a difference of opinion, as long as you don't try to take my rights away over it. Not so much anymore. The right is coming hard for women's reproductive rights (and women's health in general) and the response of a whole bunch of prominent men on the left is to throw us under the bus. Fuck that, and fuck them.
i also used to be more understanding of differences of opinions, but this issue alone has ended that for me...and IIRC, it was on these here mommy blog pages where i first announced my conversion from 'rigidly pro-choice' to 'actively pro-abortion'...youknow, in certain circmstances...and especially with votes
The state of Texas now commands a solid lead in newborn fatalities and maternity deaths, in the world, not just this awful country. Banana Republicism, it happened fast!
Not "almost as if." I've actually run into several of these assholes on comment threads, claiming that they know "lots of women" who have had multiple abortions in lieu of using birth control. I always want to ask them, where do you know them from? What do they do for a living? Hobbies? Also, hey, why are you so convinced that many women are so stupid and "immoral" that they'd actively rather go through painful surgery and pay hundreds or thousands of dollars than spend a fraction of that on condoms or the Pill that you see nothing wrong with making up obviously fictional examples to try to convince strangers of same?
I would bet that a bare minimum of half of all American taxpayers are not delighted about their federal tax dollars going to pay for Trump's constant trips to his own golf resort. Where's the bill that lets us opt out of that, huh? Oh wait, there's no opportunity to punish sluts and poors with that, so never mind.
Seems to be standard protocol at this administration. Shortly after taking office Trump the Grabastic found it wise to publicly disparage his own intelligence professionals by saying in no uncertain terms that they were incompetent. Always the perfectionist, he then took it up a notch and questioned their loyalty. Then, to soothe his butthurt, he proclaimed the American free press an ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE. Now he can talk shit to ninety-nine percent of humanity with impunity, but the vast majority of THESE PEOPLE are highly skilled career professionals with the means and now motive to prove him wrong. They also specialize in compiling and analyzing information so hopefully he'll take the collaborators he's got by the pussy down with him.
Anti-choicers won't acknowledge three important facts: 1) abortion will happen and always has happened even when illegal. 2) Poor women will be having unsafe abortions if it's illegal, costing them their health or lives. 3) Rich women will have safe legal abortions where abortion is legal. They will travel to Switzerland, for example.
Well, you know, preventing a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterine wall is the same thing as abortion, so those birth controls have got to go. Never mind the fact that even women who don't take birth control have probably hundreds of fertilized eggs that don't attach for various reasons during their lives.
"Democrat dudebro who wrote that idiot New York Times essay about how Democrats need to stop trying to keep abortion all legal and such."

No. Take a lesson from Lysistrata - DON'T fuck them.
I forgot about the HONEST Act--limiting the use of scientific evidence in setting public policy
this would be a good strategy, if republican women werent also too such assholes...however....

So, out of curiosity, can someone here lawsplain what the likely over-under is on PP suing the living daylights out of this bill?

That smirking old kook needs that smile bitch-slapped right off his face.
Joseph Goebbels would be so proud of Joni who fits in wll with Trump's fascism.

The Republicans deserve to be punched right in their tea bags.*

Keep it legal and safe.
Everything is bigger in Texas, even the bad stuff.

Anatomy and biology. How does it work even?
