I’ve been called that many times. I was freshman in high school when my South Carolina school was desegregated. The most recent case was 21 years ago in a McDonalds while I was carrying my beautiful three month old grandson out the door. I stopped and just stared at the guy. Didn’t say anything, just stared. After a while he got up and left. It was satisfying.

The FOOD!!!!! My FSM, yes. One of the only good things about the pandemic is I became more acquainted with the small ethnic restaurants in my neighborhood through Grubhub. The extra expense has been worth it.

I grew up in an area so devoid of Blacks that ethnic whites only had other ethnic whites to hate. Even back in the 1970s, an Italian-American marrying, say, an Irish-American was still considered a "mixed marriage." And don't get me started on the family "shame" of a Catholic/Protestant marriage!
