So I guess the takeaway here is that so much of Ben Stein's money was won, that he could no longer even afford the Internet, even enough to do a basic Google search?

Honest mistake, when you think about it.

"And if he was so intimidating, why did she immediately feel un-intimidated enough to alert the authorities as to her story? I need to know the answer to this question, um, for no particular reason, or anything. Just, you know, asking, and stuff. I'm not a maid rapist, or anything, because, 'economist,' point 2, duh! I mean, I love and admire hotel maids, but only in my mind! Only mentally! It never goes any further. Besides, there's no proof, either, so it never happened, as I said very clearly in point 1. Look, I'm just saying maids have incredibly hard jobs and they do them uncomplainingly... except in this case. So, I just kind of wonder, you know, why the intimidation didn't work? And, also, does anyone know anything about statutes of limitations? Just curious.

Thanks, American Spectator Readers!"

These links confirm Ben Stein is another reason that economists are fucking worse than lawyers: <a href="http://missdisplaced.wordpr..." target="_blank">" rel="nofollow noopener" title="http://missdisplaced.wordpress.com/2010/07/22/ass...">http://missdisplaced.wordpr... <a href="http://www.playingfieldprom..." target="_blank">" rel="nofollow noopener" title="http://www.playingfieldpromotions.com/blog/1052/b...">http://www.playingfieldprom...

Ben Stein does bring up one point, namely that he doesn't do any research at all before he writes this stuff. I did a quick Google search, and found a half-dozen recent cases of economists being charged with sexual harassment and other crimes (including one case of production and distribution of child pornography). No doubt a careful search would turn up more.

To be fair, I also did a search for "hotel maids falsely accusing guests of rape." Surprisingly enough, there was one case of that. (Google Matthew Moorhouse and the Standard Hotel in New York.)

So, scientifically, there is a chance the maid is lying, but it's 1-6.
