As a result, the homeowners had a massive homeowners’ insurance policy that paid out. Had he been running in pretty much any other neighborhood, he would have been SOL.
And yes, he subsequently pushed for “tort reform” to cap damages, so nobody after him could get a payout like he did.
In the Valley, Biden would get a warmer welcome. The borderlands are traditionally conservative Democrats. At least some is due to the Bidens simply being Catholics, as well as middle of the road Democrats. It's weird, I know, but out where I'd lived a couple miles from the Rio Grande, it wasn't unusual in people's homes to see a Lyndon Johnson right next to the family shrine to the Virgin of Guadalupe.
A big problem is no one voted for a long time except GOP fanatics. Very recently Dems have voted, which is why all the main population centers (except maybe Ft Worth, although Beto carried Tarrant County) are blue.
