agreed, and I donated the max to Bernie's campaign. Biden's behavior on this issue, past and present, is inexcusable. He would do much better to just admit that he was a total asshole back then, he screwed her over royally, and get it behind him. But old white guy of privilege prevails once again.
So you're saying rust belt women won't vote for Beto? OK, got it. And yes. Rust belt white guys (and gals) will vote for Biden in sufficient numbers if he is the candidate instead. It's very possible Biden would win five out of five, but probably more likely, not Ohio, so four out of five.
What I'm really saying is any Dem will win all the states Hillary won. Tell me otherwise? Tell me one single state where Hillary won that Biden or Beto would lose?
Like it or not, the battle is in MI, WI, IA, OH and PA. What we need to worry about is winning a couple rust belt states, because that's what we didn't do last time. That is the reason Trump is president, not Hillary.
I went to see Joe speak during the 2016 election. After he was done, he did the obligatory 'shake hands with the commons' and walked down the front of the crowd where I was standing. When he shook my hand he asked me my name and when I told him, he misheard me and thought I said Daisy.
"Daisy?", he said. "We have one of those in our family.'
I could tell it was a line he had used 10,000 times and I realized GOD this guy is SUCH a politician. I sort of stopped liking him after that.
There's no advantage to true contrition.... because "I'm American and exceptional". And exceptionalism also means "capacity to learn and grow from mistakes" is null and void.
(Hey, I agree contrition and learning from your mistakes is a human trait, but this is Amurica dammit!)
Yep. When I read his name is Stephen‘s piece inside my head I spontaneously said 'Strom Thurmond!! Was he even a real guy?' It’s nice when the past feels like the past.
And then I thought Strom Thurmond no that’s just Q. But the spelling is wrong. #IAmTheStrom
Very first election I ever voted in, California 1980. I registered as a Republican, in 79 obviously, to vote against Reagan in the Republican primary. By the time the California primary came he was already the presumptive nominee. So it ended up not mattering. But hey, it’s a tactic. And just turned 18, I didn’t think that up myself. I heard it somewhere.
Biden can definitely win. I'm not saying he should, but we need a guy who can pick up some rust belts states. Unfortunately, that will almost certainly need to be a 'guy.'
Personally, I don't give two shits about who the presidential nominee is. What's important are all those down-ticket races. They will be the insurance that will make sure a progressive agenda actually gets enacted, even if that means we have to drag our "centrist/corporatist/establishment" Democratic president along, kicking and goddamn screaming.
So vote, y'all! Hold the House and flip the Senate. Also rack up some blue governorships and state AGs and leges. If we won't be able to rely on the federal government to get our agenda, let's get the state and local governments to do it. That's what they're there for.
Agreed. I'm in my early 60s and about the only person older than me that I'd consider voting for is Senator Professor Warren.
Dijon ketchup!

Thank you.

I think Anita should get that seat.

I tend to think of this as an American trait, a product of exceptionalism combined with the ability to ignore/overcome any mistakes.
You may get dodges from Democrats, but outright doubling-down from Republicans.

Cool. And does it have a little truck a graphic when that’s the case? #ILoveTheLittleTruck
Bingo. Can you imagine him sputtering like Manafort, when being interviewed on Fox? Ugh.

I hate this MF.
