Ihave been advocating to raise the capital gains tax for decades now. And short term capital gains should be taxed at an even higher rate.

How would a conventional force conquer the US, anyway? Amphibious landings? Not likely in the satellite age. A huge buildup in Canada and/or Mexico, taking months to prepare? Not sure I see that in the cards.

Also, we should remove the cap on income subject to the Payroll Tax, and slash the percentage rate.

And we should apply the Payroll Tax to "unearned income" as well, and slash the rate yet again.

People in the lower 50% by income pay more in Payroll Tax than Federal Income Tax, by a long shot.

I, on the other hand, when we're not in a pandemic, pay far more in Federal Income Tax than Payroll Tax, even though I'm self-employed so I pay both halves of it (15.3%, rather than the 7.65% employees pay).
