Republicans are incapable of handling emergencies like Puerto Rico because they see the situations as opportunities to soak the victims to benefit cronies.

So we’ve essentially owned it as a colony for more than a century, despite it having no natural resources to exploit like colonial powers usually do? It wasn’t a tourist destination until a few decades ago.

One word for you, Puerto Rico: Stilts. And solar panels. Okay, that's three words. And hurricane-proof houses. Hmmm . . . that's more words. Okay, so houses on stilts that have solar panels, all totally hurricane-proof. Living underground would probably make you hurricane-proof, so underground houses with solar panels, on stilts. There, I've solved the problem like Maria.

In a way that's sort of the same thing with "wokeness." Republicans use being "woke" as a weakness at best or more likely as a con because being "woke" is not a lot different than being empathetic and that's something that they just can't fathom.

There was a push to make PR a renewable powerhouse, mini grids could avoid the major damage island wide grids can't endure, apparently this model stalled also... fuck!
