That's not necessarily a bad thing. Mutual interdependence is a better, more livable strategy than realpolitik.

How much of the Middle East is just an arbitrarily defined region of states with borders drawn and artificial legacy rulers chosen simply to benefit the West?Answer: Not Quite All Of Them, Katie, but far too many. The conflict butter was baked right in.

I have no doubt that Jared had a hand in giving the Butcher the green light. "Go ahead, dad won't stand in the way."

well, to be fair, he DID let women drive.

I suspect no one had to say anything. It had been clear for a long time that trump would not hold violent dictators responsible for anything they did.

You appear to expect perfection from reality. Biden does not have the power to dispose of MBS and create a humane, democratic government instead. He is doing what he has the power to do.

I guess you'll be voting Repub next time since you view Dems as useless, despite all that Biden has accomplished in his short time in office.

It's easy to talk. Difficult to accomplish hard tasks and to solve complex problems.

Certainly useful for people who have no real understanding of the problem.

Biden has held MBS responsible by releasing the intelligence results. What do you expect him to do. Send ICE in to arrest the prince?

Also note that "right," especially in complex situations, is seldom a black-or-white issue. It's shades of gray.

MBS is not a good Saudi and Jared is not a good Jew. Neither seem to have any principles--not even bigotry. Not when power and money are involved.

Marvel at the concept of Jared being even more useless than before.

Waiting one month sends a subtler, but pretty much ruder message. It's not that Netanyahu is now unimportant. It's that he's just not very important.

You claim “shades of gray” and then provide black and white alternatives. Not very creative. Here is just one possible schematic Biden could choose that does not involve sending ICE anywhere to arrest anyone: MBS can be financially sanctioned and barred from travel to the United States. See? If this consequence is a major problem in our relations with SA, then perhaps they can advise their crown princes from refraining from murder? Or does Saudi Arabia dictate the terms of our relations? They get to murder whom ever they want and we have to accept that. Or, we can choose not to accept that behavior.

Wrong. He can financially sanction MBS and bar him from travel to the US. That is the least he can do in response to this political assassination. But he didn’t even do that because “hard”. Pathetic excuse.

Do we tell Saudi Arabia that murdering journalists is bad, or do we bow to their demand that they can kill journalists and continue as usual?

SA grabbed our short hairs back in the 70s (Nixon returned with his tail between his knees), ironically because of the Arab-Israeli War. They crippled our economy with the Oil embargo.

Woo Woo. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. Our relationship with Saudi Arabia is complicated and fraught. A wrong move could make things worse. Since MBS is the de facto leader of Saudi Arabia and will be leader for the foreseeable future, a direct attack on him could backfire.

Biden didn't fail to take action because it's "hard." It isn't hard. All he has to do is give the orders. But it could make future relations with Saudi Arabia even more difficult and dangerous.

Biden has already made it clear that we believe that murdering journalists is bad. He released the report that trump had suppressed. He has sanctioned high-up cronies of MBS. The message has been sent. I strongly suspect that even more messages have been sent in various ways we don't know about.

It is actually possible that Biden and his advisors understand the whole situation better than you do.

Your post is pathetic, Woo Woo. You seem to believe that there are simple solutions to complex problems. Maybe we should just nuke them from outer space, huh? It's the only way to be sure.
