Just posted a clarification on the Federalist Society's role in the case; the brief opposing the weirdass theory was from one of the FC's founders, although the group itself has pushed for the doctrine, especially under Leonard Leo. Wonkette regrets the error.

I like calling it "the Alito Court," as it belittles Roberts. But it also lets him off the hook a little.

There are ads plastered across Disqus profile’s notifications pages, but not on Wonkette itself. Wonkette is ad-free. Disqus only recently began shitting ads all over my profile notifications page and it sucks. There are so many aggressive ads that at times they block my ability to even read more than a single line of a comment at a time.

Adding seats to match the number of circuits is simple and has ample precedent. Even if they were expanded over the course of several Presidential terms -- i.e. one in 2021-2024, one in 2025-2028, one in 2029-2032, one in 2033-2036 -- it would be an improvement.

Extra fiver if Alito pulls in the oratory of an 1850s British parish beadle.

Where is Thomas on this? Has he recused? After all, his very busy wife tried to use the independent electors theory to push the January 6th insurrection. Seems like that should mean something.

Haha! I joke. We all know how the SCOTUS extremists feel about ethics.

"If that sounds crazy, that's because it is. The claim has been rejected in numerous Supreme Court cases for over a century"

I have no doubt that Alito will find some papal decree from the 1100s, or some cave painting or some shit -- if he even bothers to justify it that much.

The only bright spot in this I can see -- and even that's a stretch -- is that the red states were never gonna vote anything but R anyway.
