has anyone else had the joy of seeing the AI Musk vaporub for dementia ad?

It keeps playing in one of the silly word games I play on my phone. It is quite clearly AI yet a quick Google search shows many folk asking if it is real

Public Service Health Announcement: This afternoon be sure and stretch your finger muscles, esp you old fuks with arthritis and shit. To not injure yourself for the evening activities. No, not THAT, you perverts, to watch both games which are on different channels. So a lot of fingering of channel changing. Unless you got one o' them AI Robot channel changers you can just yell at. Stillers at Brownies on Jeff Bezos butt, or Prime if you will. And Phiwees at Braves on NBC something. The baseball game should be good cause the winner goes on in the playoffs.

And the loser has to go home and listen to their wives and kids until the end of February.

And you thought it was just a game !

OT: So, to take a shower, my nephrostomy tube/bag is put into a garbage bag and taped to my back, making me feel as though I'm sporting an off-center tail. So as I'm showering, my CNA comes back into the room (they're sneaky) and hears me singing "I'm gonna wag my tail until the duct tape fails..."

Such intense side-eye I have rarely seen. I'm expecting a psych evaluation sometime this afternoon.

"Firefighting is grueling work — 24-hour work days, backbreaking labor, and of course, the heat. It’s no different for incarcerated firefighters, who are responsible for nearly half of the emergency hours spent combatting California’s wildfires.

Once they leave prison, many former firefighters struggle to find work, including at California’s firefighting department, Cal Fire.

On Monday, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill that would help improve the job prospects for formerly incarcerated firefighters. The measure, Assembly Bill 2483, by Assemblymember Sade Elhawary, a Los Angeles Democrat, will standardize the credentials that incarcerated firefighters receive when they leave prison and give them priority in hiring for certain entry-level positions.

By 2028, the bill will give formerly incarcerated firefighters credentials that match the requirements for entry-level jobs at Cal Fire. The positions are a pathway to meaningful work, a six-figure income and a state pension. "

Huh, ya really think so?

Cincinnatus's avatar

"A company linked with Jared Kushner, who is also a U.S. special envoy, holds the largest stake in an Israeli company backing businesses involved in Israel’s military campaigns, CNN reported Thursday. The outlet says President Donald Trump’s son-in-law’s investment firm Affinity Partners doubled its stake in Tel Aviv-based Phoenix Financial shortly before Trump returned to the White House. Phoenix has put huge sums into Israel’s largest arms manufacturer and holds stakes in at least eight other firms providing equipment for the Israeli military, CNN claims." [HuffPost]

Our_Man_In_Redneckistan's avatar

I hope he loses every cent. Remember, this fool bought 666 Fifth Ave at asking price.

Cincinnatus's avatar

Also, too:

Affinity Partners is a Miami-based private investment and private equity firm founded by Jared Kushner on July 1, 2021, following his service as a senior White House adviser. Major funding originates from sovereign wealth funds in the Middle East, including the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), Abu Dhabi’s Lunate, and the Qatar Investment Authority.

“Behold the Paragons of Rank Incompetence,” by Frank Bruini and Bret Stephens

I have no idea how in the hell Jamelle Bouie manages to work at the same place as these two and resist the urge to smack the hell out of them.

If that article had any text in it besides the headline, then it's journalistic malpractice.

I skimmed it.

Don't.

It's even dumber, smugger, more self-satisfied, shallow and empty than I had expected.

Of course, Bret Stephens is against Universal Basic Income because then people wouldn't work. Because he, like all "conservatives," hates and fears work and does anything he can to avoid it, and just assumes everyone else is just like him.

Ta, Brooke. What an origin story for a great, fact-finding journalist. Sunshine Smiley Pancakes, indeed. Darling husband and I have a radio show, A Jet Age Sound, Saturday from ten to midnight eastern, and we love the haunted Masonic hall that houses WIOX. We spin vinyl and love it.

We weren't in NYC for the recent nor'easter, we were Up Here getting ordinary (for us) rain. Both beloved Meccalopolils and I have witnessed inland hurricanes -- I was in Harrisburg for Hurricane Agnes in 1972, and he was Up Here in the book village of the Catskills for Irene. I was in Manhattan for Frankenstorm Sandy; my neighborhood was the *last* one to get electric power restored. Fortunately, there's a hardware store not far from our tenement that has a generator, and they put power strips on the sidewalk outside their door so we could charge computers and phones. Also fortunately, before the power went out I bought two big bags of ice -- one for the fridge, one for the freezer, and still had gas for the stove and running water. The only food I lost was a handful of mesclun. I hope all west coast Wonketteers are prepared; go bag at the ready. Climate change is no joke. Nor has it ever been a hoax.

<Sitting in a pediatric intensive care unit last year, watching a ventilator keep her 17-month-old daughter alive, Emily Marris scoured the contents of her phone for evidence to give to California health and food safety investigators.

She had bought raw goat milk from a farm recommended to her in a Facebook group run by her chiropractor. Marris had hoped the milk, unprocessed and natural, would help with her daughter Brooklyn’s constipation. But doctors now suspected the unpasteurized milk, which hadn’t been heated to kill off pathogens, was the source of the toddler’s severe E. coli infection.>

Chemical's avatar

Love how these assholes turn to Facebook quacks to help with constipation but then go to real doctors when it's time to fight off an E. Coli infection. Why did you stop taking advice from the Facebook chiropractor just then, huh? Curious.

HarryButtle, degenerate artist's avatar

Because of our shitty healthcare policies, running to the doc for every sniffle or tummy ache can get expensive. She's a dipshit for taking Facebook advice but going to the doc might not have been an option.

Confirmation bias is a disease unto it's own. "They" don't want you to know, "we" know the real scoop.

It's nuts.

Diane's Less Hostile Username's avatar

When I was in high school, my best friend got sick. His mother kept taking him to a "doctor" who kept telling the mother that the child was "malnourished". The mother was spending a fortune shopping at the health food store buy all kinds of fancy shit. This was in the 90s, too, pre "organic", etc. This went on for like 4 months. She said that he had been through phases like this before and always recovered. Finally, after four months of the child being very ill, the mother took him to the hospital where he was admitted to the ICU immediately. Within two days he was diagnosed with leukemia but he was far too sick to be treated. He ended up dying within 10 days of entering the hospital.

These people--the people who encourage alternative medicine--should be banned from all of society.

PrimerGray's avatar

That's awful. And she had to live with that.

Diane's Less Hostile Username's avatar

It was so awful to watch her mourn. I never talked to her about it, but it was just so awful. I have never been willing to blame her, nor have I ever asked her if she blamed herself.

PrimerGray's avatar

Both women want the best for the child. They were poisoned by people leading them astray. Whatever the reasons, I can't be completely angry about it, sad mostly that no one could get them to think differently.
