She's not delaying because she's incompetent, she's delaying because she's the activist judge Republicans like to scream about all the time.

And, in very related news, she needs to be disbarred.

I don't believe that her actions are a result of her lack of qualifications. She is smart, having graduated at the top of her class. She can figure these things out, and knows how to ask others for guidance. I'm convinced that the fact she hasn't taken these basic actions, and hasn't sought aid from more experienced colleagues indicates intent on her part to delay for as long as humanly possible. Everything points quite heavily toward malice, rather than ineptitude.

Ta, Evan. I'd like to shoot Aileen out of a cannon. Or a canon, you decide.

i'm shocked she is completely out of her league... i mean... "The would-be judge’s writing experience was largely limited to a college internship at the El Nuevo Herald newspaper in Miami, where she covered prenatal yoga and flamenco dancing." what more experience does one need?!

This is one of those NYT stories that makes me want to get a subscription, to go with my subs to WaPo (and of course Wonkette).

But then I think of how I'd be subsidizing the salaries of asshats like David Brooks and Ross Douthat, and I'm like, nah.

If Stinky wins, Loose Cannon will be at the top of his list to replace Alito and/or Thomas. And she knows it.

Oh yeah, straight to SCOTUS. She can sit next to Alito and Thomas.

I don't think that'd be the perk she'd think it was.

Let’s not forget that Cannon’s Plan B in case Trump loses is to impanel a jury and then dismiss the case with jeopardy attached.

Either way, the most open and shut case against Stinky von Shitzinpants is fucked as long as she’s presiding over it.

Why do we have to have that glamor shot of Loose Cannon with every story about what a corrupt and stupid fuck she is? Can’t we show a pic of as she normally looks, with thick glasses and (probably) braces?

Correct me if I'm wrong but while a favorable "presidential immunity" ruling (good Gawd) may protect trump from insurrection-related charges, it would not protect him from the documents case, right?

Correct. Trump is charged with illegally retaining documents after leaving office, so his imaginary total presidential immunity doesn’t apply.

For now.

Comment on Daily Kos:

"There are outstanding motions on which the Judge has had sufficient time to rule and yet has not.

There are also discovery deadlines that are required yet she has failed to set. And there must be a trial date set for a criminal case now two years old. To simply vacate a prior order setting one while refusing to set a new one is a neglect of duty for which the prosecution, being ready for trial, can seek a writ of mandamus. The prosecution should therefore bombard the Court with motions calling upon her to act on these matters, one of which should be a "Motion to Set a Trial Date", period. Any date.

And would be a Motion for CIPA Sec. 5 deadline. Another, a Motion to Approve Requested Jury Instructions. And another three should be "Motion for Ruling".

This will of course anger the Judge and she will lash out at the Government lawyers and possibly threaten them with contempt. But this case long ago became a contest between a Judge and the prosecution.

Force the judge to deny these motions. Include deadlines. And then, file an Omnibus interlocutory appeal of all these adverse rulings. Take up also the question of her ex parte communications with the defendants.

Might as well now, for the judge has just declared that she is simply putting a stop to this case. Not even the defendants trial date is good enough for her. Demand one."

It's not a lot, but it's somewhat consoling to know that there are grownups in the Southern District of Florida. Cannon's incompetence is only over-matched by her lack of relevant experience. What a boob bomb.

She may be out of her league, but that doesn't mean her intentions aren't malevolent. They are. Just like Jeffrey Clark ready to take over as head of the DOJ. Qualified, NO! It's not about being qualified, it's about getting to a particular end result. Any idiot can push that shiny red button. In Cannon's case, she can look as stupid as a clown, but she's still got a permanent job for life, so who cares. Not Aileen.

This!!!!! Several weeks ago, it was arguable that she was just incompetent. But not anymore. The fact she won't decide a single motion and will go against precedent to avoid doing so isn't just "not ready for primetime" The fact that she won't set a deadline for trial or discovery is beyond "slow and meticulous." Those naked delay tactics coupled with these absurd amicus hearings show beyond a doubt that she's corrupt. She may not be on the campaign pay roll, but she's blatantly tipping the scales for the defense for - as Dorothea says - "malevolent" intentions.

Of course she didn't, she was going to be a supreme court justice---if DJT is elected in Nov. 24. Big if I know, and the second big if--if he remembers what she did for him which he won't.
