"Nastiest country in the western hemisphere?"

Brother. I don't actually know which nation holds that title at present, but if, God forbid, Trump becomes president again, I fear the U.S. will take it in short order. As for "cults", MAGA is as obscene and mindless a cult as one could wish to avoid seeing. And vudu? I'll bet Higgins derived his ideas of that from old Hammer movies, old Dennis Wheatley novels, and maybe LIVE AND LET DIE. I'll further bet he hasn't the remotest clue who Damballa, Erzulie Dantor, or Eshu are. Well, you needn't know anything about anything in order to demonise people. Knowing anything is probably a disadvantage when it comes to doing that, ignorance a plus.

"All these thugs better get their mind right ..."

This is a cosmic tell. Do you think there is any chance this "man" has sat through "Cool Hand Luke" and can repeat that chilling admonition without irony?

Imagine a Washington press corp that responds to these, "I understand there's a tweet, I haven't seen it," with, "You're the Speaker of the House. Your staff isn't aware that we would ask you about this issue? They didn't brief you so you'd be prepared for our questions? Will heads roll?"

I have a strange imagination.

I think about this every time they use the bullshit "I didn't see it" dodge. They really perfected that one during PAB's reign of terror.

Ta, Evan. Shameful.

It is so shameful that someone who voted for David Duke is an elected member of Congress. Higgins and everyone who voted for him and every spineless little weasel cowering behind the cross need to take a step back and excuse themselves from participating in all adult activities like voting and democracy. Yes, I'm talking to you too, Mike Numbnuts Johnson!!!

"and accused the lawmakers of “threatening” him." which really would have been more impressive had Higgins said it in the voice of the Great Cornholio (Beavis). I mean, if he is going to act like one of TV's most infamous half-wits on a sugar bender, he should do it right.

Yee-haw! Is Rep. "Common" Clay Higgins a tuff guy, or what? Guess he told them furriners a thing or two! Take down his tweet? Just be grateful he don't take down your pants and give you a whoppin'. Listen up, mister, this is still Amercuh and I have free speech!

If Evan's story wasn't enough to make you retch, Jay Kuo has a little more on Clay's disturbing past.

It was probably a strong clue that Higgins was a low-life white supremacist when, as far back as 1992, he supported former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke for governor of Louisiana. This is an excerpt from a news story at the time, identifying Higgins as an “Army military policy officer” who attended a rally for radical extremist Pat Buchanan, who was running for president that year. Even after conceding that Duke was a Nazi, and “that’s a problem” for his candidacy, Higgins went on to vote for Duke for governor.

As the Washington Post reported, back in 2016 Higgins, the “brash, outspoken captain of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s office” in Louisiana, resigned after appearing in a video calling a group of predominantly black gang members “animals,” “thugs” and “heathens.”

Hey Mikey J it’s actually very simple. Just substitute your name for Haitians in every pig ignorant comment your bro Common Clay Triggerns makes about them and perhaps you’ll see the light. Or not because empathy is a commodity unlike racism that conservatives always seem to have in short supply.

"We believe in redemption around here."

We're heading into the High Holidays, so that line got me thinking. The Days of Awe are all about taking stock of your actions over the past year, especially with other people. Less so about getting right with God.

Part of that is repenting your bad actions, letting the people you've harmed know that you are sorry and will at least try to better, and if it's the sort of action where you can make restitution for your acts, to do so.

I didn't hear Johnson say anything about repentance or restitution. So how do you get redemption?

The thing is that according to these creeps theology, if they ask for forgiveness you are expected to give it to them just like Jesus supposedly would. If you don’t, then you’re the godless, sinful asshole.
