I look forward to your articles detailing just how much climate has already changed the world - particularly w/regards to the North & South American continents. I feel that people in the United States are completely and blissfully unaware of the myriad changes to local climate (s) in ‘the Americas’ that is driving and will continue to drive mass migration. I also wonder - really wonder - whether the current administrations attempts to assert military control in the Americas is part of a broader plan to leave hundreds of millions of humans to starve in place rather than offer any meaningful assistance.

"and how we’re pretty sure Americans have not grasped yet how different the world already is, and how much more different it is going to be moving forward."

We're talking about Americans here right? The stupidest pieces of moron shit on the planet? Americans will never grasp anything about the world and what's going on in it. Instead, like the dopes and idiots they are, they'll be led around by the nose and lied to and that's what they'll never grasp.

I'm sorry we live in a country full of imbeciles, but that's what it is.

400 people?

Thats like, less than the amount of human trafficked minors that got brought into America for "modeling" on a fraudulent visa application.

IF a caravan left Honduras (I've not seen anything in the Mexican media, which is usually on top of these things) it would likely have more to do with the return of the far-right and their "libertarian" (aka "fascist") policies, which have fueled Honduran emigration which has picked up since Ximara Castro left office.

Speaking of the evil AI, I have a 1-hr training class this morning on some new AI product our company is going to make available to us. Oh yipee.

The bank Mrs. JC works for has been pushing AI 'tools' hard lately, wanting the employees to use them so it can learn how to do their jobs.

Agentic Commerce is the next big thing. With all the recent warnings of it going rogue, would YOU give a bot your authority to go online shipping with your payment details?! I'm sure a few lazy idiots will and I can't imagine how the chargeback rate won't go through the ceiling.

In a recent court case it came out that the AI companies were stealing data to train them. Have we secured our sensitive data against theft by this tool?

Last year, Amazon pushed out an update to their agent that included code instructing the agent to destroy all the IT assets of the company using it that it could. Have we secured our iT against such an event?

I was at an event this evening. Full of charming and sexy people, both performers and audience. And a followup of fancy dancy.

But, a local bus crashed into the outer perimeter, and, inadvertently, cut off our sminks and drokes.

No one was hurt (though, our egos were bruised).

El Bastardo's avatar

Okay.

This was half a lie.

Douglas Adams indicated that no one wants to hear that they missed an amazing event. The thing that they missed must have been incredible!

When I go to an event that was amazing (that you did not experience), and I tell you about it, in your mind it is _actually_ greater than whatever it was that happened.

Yes, the first part of what I wrote is true. The bus stuff, is false (or, did not happen yet - and I prefer that it does not).

If you are local and you have an interest in the _actual_ bus situation (and you know someone who knows someone), here is the the story

Every constituency? Even the Black people who were explicitly excluded?

Land Shark 🇺🇦 🏳️‍⚧️'s avatar

Like the Constitution, getting the New Deal legislation passed required placating the racists in the South and other areas. Whatever "new deal" comes from the Trump backlash has to include *all* constituencies ... this isn't 1930s America anymore. The country cannot survive on white, male "christofascists" making the rules anymore: the diversity has grown (almost) to be the majority of our citizens.

MRK's avatar

My point is that forgetting the failure of the New Deal, or how so much of our current problems are from white people choosing to burn it all down rather than expand it, does us no favors.

The New Deal was a good start, but I worry that some on our side mythologize it.

Land Shark 🇺🇦 🏳️‍⚧️'s avatar

Oh, I agree with that sentiment. The New Deal created much of the social safety that is enjoyed today. But it was limited and very biased even back then.

This time around, any new deal has to include all the social legislation that was passed much later in the 1960s: civil and equal rights for all citizens. The racists hated the New Deal, but they hated the Civil Rights Act and the Voter Rights Act even more.
