Maybe that's what's necessary, because we KNOW how this goes - the bad guys consolidate power until they're comfortable taking away any recourse through the courts or the ballot box. I HOPE they're too cowardly to go full fascist, but is hope enough? It's nine months to November. You can accomplish a lot in nine months if you know you can do anything you like.Supplying food for a general strike is an excellent idea; sadly, the first thing they'll do is close the borders. But I can discuss it tonight with the g/f down there in the Charm City.

Or so we hope. Don't get too confident--we were confident in 2016.

Of course, it all depends on turnout!

Hopefully, Judge Amy will pointedly remind the prosecution team of their role in the judicial process before throwing Stone under the jail.

I had a diver friend who said that tenderizing abalone did the trick.

This scares me more than almost anything we've seen so far. Judges aren't bound by sentencing recommendations, but the fact that they feel so empowered as to make this egregiously unfair and biased one just slaps me in the face with how unencumbered they feel by anything resembling morality.

General strikes are a hard sell in the US because so many people are beholden to their employers for health care and other integral things.

The prosecution team is gone. There will be just some poor, uninvolved saps chosen to go before the judge.

I'm thinking there's not much chance that Judge Amy Berman Jackson isn't fed up to the back teeth by Stone and his stupidities, and that she won't need much encouragement to sentence him to the full whack regardless of the prosecution's requests.

I'm also thinking that this is being set up as the pretext for the pardon, and that, as soon as he's sentenced, the Trumpies will be all "ooh the mean judge lady did her mean bad judicial overreach, so we HAD to pardon poor Rog" about this shit.

I should learn to read down thread before posting... I just said the same thing.

That all tracks.

Well, this is such a common situation ... *four* US prosecutors quitting over a single issue .... that the sentencing will just be business as usual. /s

OK, the 'replacement' prosecution team.

We the consumer actually have the ability to shut this mother down. This a consumer culture/economy and if we the consumer decide to stop buying shit we can demand whatever we want. they would beg us. We could crash this economy easily if enough got behind it. 20 million decide to stop buying those big screens and ipads and cars and stay home eat home cooked meals. We got the power. What we dont have is a leader. Thats what is missing here...a true leader like a MLK to lead us on a massive work/consumer strike or just march us all to DC and burn the fucking house down. WE NEED A LEADER...NOW...and there is no one willing to take that charge.
