How well known are Garry Marshall’s shows among GenZ? They had a long life through syndication but that was more than 40 years ago. I remember L&S less from the writing and more from the acting and the chemistry, similar to Happy Days. Both shows became less interested over time in maintaining the 1950s/early 1960s verisimilitude. But at least the L&S writing didn’t devolve into cartoon like Fonzie, and I say that as the kid who built the Triumph model kit.
It has to have at least 20 years ago, my pastor was extolling the virtues of friendship, and mentioned the usual suspects from the Bible (Ruth and Naomi, David and Jonathan), but then went on to famous TV friendships - Lucy and Ethel, Laverne and Shirley, Andy and Barney. I love them all!
An operatic reimagining of most of the book of Esther (the part after she became queen), with a few slight deviations from the Biblical text, but definitely in keeping with the nonsolemnity of Purim--http://www.familyopera.org/drupal/Haman_2010#Video-Start-7.
Where did you hear anything about it? This is mighty local, although there was one performance of parts of it at a local synagogue as a Purimspiel, in conjunction with this iteration of it. I actually saw two of the dancers in this cast yesterday, one expected (my offspring) and one not.
It was discussed last night on Wonkette that Wisconsin's firearms laws (hah!) allow people to be armed within the RNC's security footprint, but not within the are requiring passes and such. Hard rain gonna fall.
Of course! So are their little Nazi club meetings!, like Turning Point and shit. Why would the really important people put themselves at risk like that?
Everyone did. Pinky was set up to be a big recurring character, but Roz Kelly apparently did not endear herself to the cast and crew (how bad do you have to be not to get along with Henry Winkler and Ron Howard, two of the nicest people in Hollywood?) and so Pinky ended up only making a couple of appearances.
"I don’t understand how “they had some of the set’s ammo in a file at the police station and didn’t disclose it to the defense” was cause to drop all charges, because I don’t understand what probative value that ammo would have had in the first place."
You've answered your own question here. No one knows the probative value of the ammo that was kept from the defense team. It might have no probative value, it might have show that Baldwin was innocent beyond a reasonable doubt. Who knows? The defense team never had the opportunity to examine it.
But it was evidence that was not provided to the defense team prior to the start of the trial and only came in after the jury was sworn in. Once that evidence came to light at that time, the judge had no other choice but to dismiss the case with prejudice because of the 6th Amendment violation to the right to a fair trial and access to all evidence that the state has concerning the crime that the defendant is charged with.
Also, not UFC specifically, although I can't imagine it's that different, especially since the only high level female only promotion is owned by the same company, but viewership is 44% women.
"AOC to anonymous Democrat who said party resigned to Trump win: ‘Retire’"
Just in case you haven't seen the disgusting and shameful Jake Tapper piece in question, let me just say that if is disgusting and shameful, even by Jake Tapper's abominable standards. SO MANY ANONYMOUS QUOTES. Like, literally a dozen vaguely described anonymous randos who ol' Jake insists are Very Important Democrats because he says so, that's why. Ted Cruz tells lies that are better documented than this shit.
Extra rant on weekend events, the idiot shooting at the ex president was 150 meters from his target. The effective range of a handgun tops out at 30 m. If the people in the crowd had been armed, the only thing they could have done was kill each other with friendly fire. And the gun nuts know this.
Here's your hed gif source (you already knew it, though!): https://martiniambassador.substack.com/p/schlemiel-schlimazel-hasenpfeffer
Excellent job on this one Martini!
Thanks Ziggy!
Her name was Penny, but she always gave a performance of greater value.
A very talented comic actor.
And director, also too!
So true.

I loved the credits with our Wonkets! Be careful in Milwaukee, y’all!
Symptom of low blood caffeine: I had no idea why the Laverne & Shirley reference. Me am well informitaed!

I liked the Fonz - but he did become a bit of a cartoon.
It was then I wanted to be Starsky (of Starsky & Hutch). Bought the Adidas sneakers and everything. Starsky was cool.
My S&H Hot Wheels car is still at my mom's house. I mean, not salted away somewhere...she can put hands on it in a minute.
I could hear the theme song in my head as I watched. Well done, Martini!

Rick Hunter & Dee Dee McCall from the 80s TV series HUNTER.
Spock/Kirk
McCoy?
Threesome triangle friendship, too complicated acted for this list IMO.
I've always been a big fan of Queen Esther.
You should check out her Hamantaschen

I have READ a bit about this interpretation and absolutely long to see and HEAR it performed.

I heard about it too, but as far as "where" all I can say is "the Internet somewhere"
I like her too.
Inspired .gif excellence
Thank you kindly, friend!

What, the convention is a gun free zone?????
How is that even 2nd amendmenty?
Apparently Republicans HATE HATE HATE the Second Amendment and all the teen amendments (13-19).
Of course! So are their little Nazi club meetings!, like Turning Point and shit. Why would the really important people put themselves at risk like that?
I know, right? How will the faithful salute their living god without celebratory gunfire?
Farts from all the Miller Lite they will pour down their gullets
In Gravity's Rainbow, Pynchon has a minor character, an officious Nazi secretary named Miss Mueller-Hochleben.
I remember reading that and only a month or so later realizing that her name translates to "Miller High Life".
Damn, I missed that one totally!
I preferred Leather Tuscadero to Pinky Tuscadero, and pink is my favorite color. Go figure.

Well Leather could actually sing! Though Suzi Quattro 1978-ish definitely did not feel very 1950s!
Oh good(e), I get to post this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OoB-faipmU
Suzi ❤
Her shag was boss!
I used to wear my hair exactly like that.
It is just damned tempting to have it cut in a shag again.

Does it make a difference if 69 is right side up or upside down ? Either way it’s nice.

By the way, while you're all in Milwaukee? Go to Organ Piper Pizza Palace. Just do that. It will be the most important thing you do.

I can't read any of the articles today, but here's Matt Rose v. AI High School Yearbooks.

"The staff and I are in Milwaukee for the RNC."
Be careful out there.
Be very, very fucking careful.
Because there WILL be a lot of violent, crazy MAGAts, looking to score revenge points against anyone they can identify as too "woke" or Leftist.
UFC super manly. Not like the two biggest fighters of the last decade were women.

I’d heard about Dr Ruth, but Richard Simmons is new to me. RIP to both of them and I don’t want to see any articles in the Enquirer.
I’m having a morning. Two nights of insomnia taking its toll. Went into class and started the lecture with the wrong chapter material!
Okay. Deep breath. Deep breath. It'll work out. ... Somehow. ... Step back from the edge.
