Thanks, Yo. You're always thoughtful. The only black man I've met who supported Trump was a career army guy whom I met in south Georgia near Ft. Stewart. I am hoping that the military/Republican connection has been strained enough by Trump to be broken.
As a Black woman, I have met my share of conservative Black people in my time. They are almost always "Christian" evangelicals and homophobes. They are usually well-off when compared to other Black people. They often don't even like associating with other ordinary Black folk, or have difficulty relating to them. Because of their own success, they blame other Black people who are not as successful for their own conditions, and will claim that racism has nothing to do with the current Black condition because how could it when they have done so well? They are delusional, and self-hating.
When one mentions Dr. Carson, I like to mention my good friend from high school, whose nephew is a high-level adviser to Ben (and has actually been featured in a Wonkette article). Nephew assures his parents, who are moderate centrists, and his aunt and uncle, who are so fucking liberal it would make your teeth hurt, that Ben Carson is a brilliant man.
