You can tell he's a thug from a shady neighborhood. Just look at all those shade trees. A vigilant Prince William County police officer's efforts to keep a junior high schooler from creating mayhem and disorder is not getting proper credit; instead, the juvenile delinquent's mom seems to think there's something wrong with handcuffing a middle school kid, suspending him from school, and charging him with larceny for "stealing" a 65-cent carton of milk -- especially since the kid, Ryan Turk, was entitled to a free carton of milk to go with his free school lunch.
Thank you- this sounds like the role the police have in UK schools. Except ours wouldn't get involved in school discipline (unless charges were pressed I suppose) I shall bring more knowledge to our staff room discussions!
It's a great story. I've not seen the film (I'm so bad at watching films) but I've read the book and it supports my own idealistic view of the purpose of a teacher. I firmly believe that teaching, more than anything else, is about the relationship between the teacher and the child. Without that, it's an empty exercise. Think about which teachers inspired you at schools and it was the ones who you felt believed in you, and liked you. I don't have the advantages of height or size or depth of voice, so I make kids love me and more importantly, like I really do care about them- even when I can't remember their names. This boy Ryan, has had those relationships damaged. I hope it's only temporary for him.
Aw...i'm sorry. I'm going by myself as my only Shakespearianly inclined friend moved to Toronto last year. My mom laughed at me when I asked if she wanted to go
God didn't give brains to grapes. He gave them delicious so humans would grow them. Just like the weed has the stoned effect so we grow it. Everything has its purpose. Unfortunately, God was not all knowing enough to realize that some of us are dumber than a bag of hammers. So he gave us a book of parables so we can judge each other.
This incident is rooted in something more devious, more sinister that any cop versus black kid. It is about MILK SUBSIDIES! The cop was making sure that the fruits of the hard won farm welfare, thus assuring bright red states, goes to the WHITE KIDS that deserve it.
Neat, where do you live? Where I live, in Grants Pass, OR, all the school-assigned cops did was sell drugs. Literally he was the school drug dealer, for real. And beat the living shit out of anyone who made them run. Especially other drug dealers who were underage (thinking of someone specific here). Fuck city cops. Fuck them in their ear holes. Sheriff's deputies IME are actual peace keepers. YMMV.
Well, sure. What else you got?
just the poor ones. the rich will move to the mountains and watch the rest of us drown.
