Arrest everyone! They've ALL got wet backs! Some fascinating news of the New Cruelty today: Even in all the chaos of a Category 3 hurricane, the U.S. Border Patrol said Tuesday it plans to keep its immigration checkpoints open on roads north of the border in Texas. At least as long as the checkpoints themselves don't blow away. So while thousands of people are following mandatory evacuation orders from coastal areas in Texas, the Border Patrol will use the emergency as an opportunity to arrest undocumented immigrants, who will apparently have the choice of staying in place and drowning in the
I'm pretty sure her answer would be the president is committed to his promise to build the wall. I seriously doubt either of their abilities to understand the difference between a hurricane and boarder wall.
WM? I lived in Amherst (starting at UMass) and Sunderland and Shutesbury from 1971-2005, then moved to Red Central Florida. Before that, it was Medfid.
Met many Southies when I worked at the race track up there. We took a worker's trip to see the Red Sox play one night. Using a school bus and a couple of kegs. I was ducking when we drove through Roxbury(?) and the fellas on the bus struck up the chant of "here we go, Southie, here we go! Later I heard personal tales of the Louisville "unpleasantness".
Hurricane Harvey is going to make or (more likely) break the Trump presidency. We really don't ask much of our presidents. When things are calm, anyone can do the job. Look at the rankings of presidents. The ones in the middle (Hayes, Taft, Cleveland, et al.) never really had a major crisis to deal with. No wars, no economic crises, no major disasters. They were never *tested*. Lincoln comes out as the best because of his leadership during the Civil War. FDR rates highly because of his leadership during the Great Depression and WWII. Americans have looked to their presidents to explain things to them, and be trustworthy in that we know what they are doing and can be relied on to do what's best for the country.
Trump has never shown any sign of leadership - or compassion, which is also needed in times of disaster - during his public life. Can we trust him now? Is he even on television telling the people of Texas what they can expect, and that the federal and state governments are working together to help everyone?
Roxbury and parts of Dorchester were/are the "blah" areas of Boston. So of COURSE the Southie chants would start there. Charlestown didn't distinguish itself very much, either. Living in Medfid, I was SLIGHTLY outside it but, being Irish, got dragged into it. No effin' way did me or mine identify with that offal. My father grew up in Roxbury in the '30s-'40s, back when Irish and Italians = blahs, so go figure. And so it goes....
the border patrol is allowed to stop and check papers anywhere within 100 miles of the border, there's a border checkpoint halfway in between san diego and los angeles where they can make anyone stop anytime they want
The neighborhood seemed to find us as fools. And they would be absolutely correct. (Especially if they saw all the puke on the bus besides the pukes on the bus.)
When you say "neighborhood," you mean Roxbury? 'Cause they were pretty much terrorized, castigated, "Louise Day Hicks'ed" (Google her), and called that n-word throughout the late 50s-60s-70s. Prolly before then, but I wasn't born until 1953.
I gotta tell ya, I'm not convinced Trump understands what a hurricane is. Perhaps we should send him there just to be sure. With really sassy galoshes. Geeeze. I'm not cruel.
UPFIST.

Oh, yeah, and they were mainly my tribe--Irish from Southie or Dot. Outside of them, the rest of us were disgusted and disowned them.
Just when one thinks we could not stoop any lower...

But Texans will be comforted by the thumbs up the Trumpster Fire was moved to give, won't they?https://twitter.com/mattmfm...

Rules for radicals forbid me from saying what I really really thing....
But, hypothetically, if God were real and decided to give a sign.....
I hope it fucking does
