In that case replace "military" with "law enforcement." Popular culture has a bad habit of heroizing everyone in both of those fields. Which is not to say that there aren't heroic people serving; simply that as with every other population there are good people and not so good people in the military. The conversation needs to be more nuanced than unconditional respect.

Right, I know now you do. Which is why I've yet to go visit pals that live north of the border. I keep meaning to get a passport but its not high on my to-do list, as travel anywhere I can't drive isn't really in the budget.

For Trump and his supporters, "the law" is just a tool to enforce white supremacy. That's the only aspect of it they care about.

It's not an illegal order to call law enforcement for a red flagged convivial ID being used by someone trying to access a restricted military installation.

That's why it's a moot point.

My SO had friends in BC. Many were the times when he'd drive through the border crossing and see the border patrol asleep at their desks. Honestly.
