The jury in the Boston Marathon bombing trial has sentenced Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to death, which doesn't make anyone killed in the attack come back to life, reattach any limbs, or take away any nightmares, but it does satisfy a primal need for vengeance, so there's that. The bombing was horrific, and reading over our
Yes, that jury should be part of the injection committee or release the lever if hanging is the preferred method. I feel strongly if one condemns others to die, that person should be right in there with the dying. That is why I think every Congress person who votes for war should have a job on the front lines of that same war. Every single one should be there with the bombs and the drones and the bullets and the blood and the gore. Then, if they survive and aren't killed by enemy or friendly fire, they can come back and vote for more war.... Right.
Mind you, I have no sympathy for this guy, but giving him the death penalty means he will be on death row for the next 20-30 years, while it is appealed. Why the fuck couldn't you just give him life without parole, and save us all a lot of time and money?
Hot button for me. Encouraged and participated in the My Lai rapes and massacre---treated like a prince under "house arrest" in Georgia---got a job at a large car dealership--married the boss's daughter--still gets fan mail from "patriots."
Because it is a nasty rule of law. A useless, archaic, outdated, uncivilized, tax-payer burden rule of law. Nastiness begets nastiness I suppose, and barbarism begets barbarism. The world turns, same note, different day.
Beam me up, Scotty---there's no intelligent life down here? The thing that's so maddening is that homo sapiens are CAPABLE of being a marvelous species--when we're in touch with what Lincoln called "the better angels of our nature."But mostly we're ruining the property values on the planet for everything and everybody.

congress people don't have the time to fight in wars. they are much too busy soliciting money from the corporations that profit from war.
don't ya remember we elected a president that chose not to dwell on the past ?
I saw that same expression on the face of a rabid dog earlier today.
So, I see several posts saying that many called for the guy to be hung, but that we have to follow the rule of law.
I agree. It was followed. The rule of law was followed again when he was sentenced.
Now that it has been followed, why is the rule of law so suddenly full of nastiness?
You can't make dead people suffer.
That "rock star" photo of the guy pisses me off every time I see it.
May is National Hamburger Month.
They hate us for our Freedoms.

A far better punishment would be to release him and send him to North Korea to be "interim" defense minister.
McVeigh wasn't.
Unable to muster even feeble snark about this...a sad, sad fucking saga in every way.
