This WAS a rough winter. I've lived here all my life and usually, the weather doesn't get me down, but this year it was dark and cold from around Christmas until February. I was, for the first time, getting Seasonal Depression.

The Glorious Revolution, 1689. No blood in the streets. OK, so a Dutch Army did kind of make that difficult...

I supported Vallas, because we tried the progressive way with Lightfoot and the moderate way with RM Daley, and Daley was the better mayor. Good luck to Johnson, he’ll be my mayor too, I can vote for his re-election if everything goes smoothly. This nonsense that Vallas was a closet Republican is ludicrous though. He ran as a Democrat for governor as far back as 2002 against one Rod Blagojevich, the lone “Democrat for Trump” in all of America right now. Vallas never had success at the ballot box, but he’s a great public servant. I imagine this was his last election. And this was probably just the start of Brandon Johnson’s bright career.

"[W]e tried the progressive way with Lightfoot....". Lori Lightfoot is under no circumstances a "progressive". She was a Clintonesque, union-busting reactionary. She was a protege of her predecessor, the ultra-scummy Raum Emanuel.

I hollered so loud in excitement that the dog started barking and my husband asked what the hell was wrong with me.

I'm a resident of Chicago, and voted for Johnson, but our friends to the north's election is a much bigger deal. We were up there last weekend (hey, it's less than an hour away) and the ads very absolutely vile. Keeping Kelly out of the court was huge; he's a sick individual.
