It seems that many white liberal commentators are more interested in the whole "oh god, it's fascism!" and blithely ignoring how bad the Worker's Party has been. Lots of folks were convinced that if Hadad had been elected, all the Worker's Party cohorts would have received pardons. It would simply be a perpetuation of the corruption that they are angry about, not "scared and vulnerable." Bolsonaro has no connections to the judiciary, and that factors a lot because there's no quid pro quo out of the gate.
This doesn't mean he can't be a BIG ass mistake. But this white liberal splainin' seems to be cropping up on many left-of-center sites and it's growing tiresome.
But on the actual subject, I blame this Brazilian mess on Lula. I respected the man so much I read a book about him. But his overreach on the Olympics and the World Cup were both serious overreaches. Had he used the $$$ for education and anti-corruption, rather than getting too big for his britchs and being a corruption, this would not be happening.
If I had one wish for the world, it would not be world peace. It would be an end to corruption and the other stuff will take care of itself.

Totally. I’m so old I watched The Rocky and Bullwinkle show when it aired in kids’ tv time. Using Boris’ accent (was the busty woman named Natasha?) it made perfect sense. Except, it didn’t make me feel pissed off at anyone but the bot who posted it, so I think that Vlad’s troll factory is really off its game. (Cue assassination music for them.)

Church of the Denim Church ladies. My little United Methodist church needs the money desperately because we lost members when they found out our preacher didn’t hate the gayz and the only liberal church in my tiny town. So I fell and hurt my ankle while making 10 pie shells for the freezer, waiting to be filled with pecan pie filling and coconut custard and making a cherry pie. After I boiled and deboned 3 chickens for the chicken and noodles that are the main dish.
Which is to say, if this were the face of Christianity, taking a hit for standing up for human rights, the Southern Baptist Convention would not fit in.
Back to icing my big, swollen ankle. Icing with ice, not frosting.

After a painful, 9 week recovery from bunion surgery which had complications, like my second toe crumbling when they broke it (part of surgery. Ladies—as you walk in high, pointy heels think of me, bitches, it’s in your future) (unless we have Star Trek surgery where Bones waves his magic thing over it when you’re my age. Haha. You’ll never be my age because Jim Inhofe has personally seen to it the world will be so unlivable your toes will be the last of your problems) and the Bone Bank sent some healthy bone goop to shoot stem cells into it. (But in Oklahoma he just cause it cells bec RWNJs) and just when I had that healed, I fell 2 or 3 times and twisted my ankle on that leg. Foot fine, leg fucked.
With those anger issues, I have no doubt. Just let it go...
