Frankly, I think he should have replaced the engine in the 88 Ford Festiva.

There are many reasons one might prefer Sanders over Biden, but Baskin called Biden insufficiently loyal to the party, an absurd thing for a Sanders fan to say-- or perhaps he doesn't know what "DINO" means.

I have no problem with that—in fact, it’d be my first choice as far as skills and temperament.

South Bend may be a nice place (does the fishing tackle come from there?), but Pete needs to run for governor or for Congress first.

When you come right down to it Biden/Warren makes the strongest ticket, but I’m not sure how well they’d run or govern together. You’d see a lot about their combined ages too. Kamala’s provide Uncle Touchy-Feely with women’s votes as well as with African-Americans (where he’s already strong, but a Bidenism could damage that). I you have women, blacks, Democrats, and people who hate Trump, do you even need Bernie’s folks? (No offense intended to Bernie people.)

Michael Moore's "I like-us the ficus" campaign is back, baby.

"How they govern" is a problem I look forward to having. As for whether we need the Bernie folks, I say all hands on deck. There is a great energy there. I'd like it working for us. But the ticket doesn't pass some purity test of theirs, then fuck 'em.

Which begs a few questions.

What are you going to replace it with? And when? What kind of timeline do you see this happening in? A year? 2? 10? What is done in the interim?

Because it you want to tear down the system you damn well better have something ready to go to replace it with on the spot.

You may be right. Makes me think less of Beto, though.

They'd be a good pair. I didn't know much about her before she entered the race, politically moderate but ready willing and able to kick some mango butt.

It'd be historic too, and that might provide the "excitement" that some of our ultra friends assert is necessary for them to do the right thing.

Like the end of the planet doesn't motivate you....

There you go again with that facts stuff again

I'm sure the system can be replaced eventually. In the meantime it can be fixed and reworked.

This is one of the bigger problems I have with the Bros. Wishful thinking is not a plan. It's not a goal. It;s not a means to an end. It's worth less than nothing. But none of them will even acknowledge it. Saying Medicare for All loud enough results in Medicare for All. Yelling to burn the systems down results in those systems burning down and something better just appearing in their place. As if by magic.

We must be close to the same age. I was a year and a half too young to vote in '72, but I volunteered in the local McGovern office.

I admit, with Bernie I do fear another McGovern.

Very close in age, Joseph. I actually missed being able to vote in '72 by about 3 1/2 months. But I did go out and work for McGovern, anyway. Never have voted for a Republican in my life and pretty much never will.

I recently had someone reply to one of my posts about Joe Biden that he/she would not vote for Biden if Joe is the nominee. Really? I'm not much of a Biden fan - my biggest problem with Joe is that he lives in a fantasy world in which a mysterious sub-species of humans called Reasonable Republicans exists. Ummmm, ever heard of Mitch McConnell, Joe? It's a joke and I think Biden's deluded but I'll still gladly vote for him if he's the nominee. Because we're probably all dead if we get 4 more years of Preznit Twitter Thumbs.

I fear that too many Bernie backers will do the same thing they did when Clinton won the nomination - they will pout, wrap themselves in their magical cloak of total wokeness and stay home in November.

And Bernie, also pouting, will do little or nothing to get his backers to the polls - just like 2016.
