“Last rat standing” - cf, SKYFALL

I kind of agree with you here. The scandal to me is it seems Mississippi's Welfare Program seems to be more about padding the pockets of the people running it and every once on a while a dollar falls out of their pocket and a poor person might catch it.Any state where more than half the people eligible for TANF aren't in fact getting it, maybe the federal Government ought to look into it or quit paying the Federal Part which looks like it's just being stolen.

One percent... that boggles the mind. And the fact that they probably all vote for the good old boys who are stealing it just makes it worse.

I think that what happened was he offered to take a job to make some public service announcements for which he would be paid $1.1 million, (from the money that was supposed to be for TANF) and he would in turn donate that money to the volleyball courts. All well and good I guess, if he didn't know where the money was coming from (he did) and if he had actually made the public service announcements (he didn't).

Yes it was. You would have thought he parted the Red Sea.

$5 million is a rounding error to him.

Exact. ... I see I'm getting ratioed right here on this thread 5:11, but it doesn't count because this is here on friendly old Wonkette where the commenters are nice and often even AFFIRMING, not nasty mean twitter snark.

Brady is the cheater. Favre sends dick picks.

Favre could have thrown a few fund raisers with all of his rich ex-football player buddies and celebrities that he knows, raised a couple mill, thrown in 1 or 2 million himself, got the facility named after him and gone down as one of the Great guys in American sports. But no, this greedy cheap son of a bitch had to squeeze the most needy and hurting people among us. His biggest concern? Getting caught. fuck Brett Favre.

He'll have the usual rehabilitation tour in a couple years and everyone will blather about how the poor man was sidelined by crooked politicians, because All Hail Football.

The worst part is /that he claimed he did privately raise that money

VooDoo Ranger's avatar

I did not know that. But I'm not surprised.

Jenibrio Jenificus's avatar

He's not going to jail. The worst that will happen is he has to pay the money back. MAYBE with interest though I won't hold my breath

And he wanted the state to lend them prison labor for the construction cause he is also into slavery as well as starving children

Reminder: Dude is worth over 100 mil.He could have paid for all of this himself.

Here is a link to documents filed which detail numerous text messages between Brent Fahvray and numerous state government officials:https://www.documentcloud.o... He was told, repeatedly, that funds were intended specifically for needy families, not "brick and mortar" projects. One guy even, jokingly, states, "I am to (sic) old for Federal Prison." Brent Fahvray just ignores that and keeps pressing for the money, because if he can't get it from the TANF funds, he is "on the hook" for the money. He knew it was illegal, but he was not going to use his own money for the project. Conspiracy to commit fraud, and theft of federal funds is a crime. But, since famous, rich, white assholes are above the law, he will be fine.
