I haven't been out in the last week or so, but in Northern NJ, gas prices have been drifting down for weeks.

I've noticed way high price hikes on random items like bottled iced teas which all seemed to jump between 30 and 50 cents per bottle.

Republicans plan to steal whatever they can. We Democrats and D-leaning Independents must vote for D candidates in such overwhelming numbers that they can't get away with their election crimes.

Turnout, turnout, turnout.

ALL of Sosnik's points in his 2022 assessment are completely doable. But is Putin trying to help out and concoct that "global crisis"? He wouldn't dare. And I'm beginning to see the Rethug Covid "strategy" - keep in going, so that maybe a real bad variant will emerge as an October surprise which will of course be hung on Biden. But then we'd be back to wide use of mail-in ballots. LOL!

I'm not sure that even a "real bad variant" would get a lot of states to go back to promoting mail-in ballots -- pandemic fatigue and the relentless propaganda from the Right would make it difficult to get 50% of the population to treat it as a serious problem. Now, you could say that the non-serious 50% would be too sick and/or dying to cause trouble, but really, that would also create a huge crisis all on its own.

Here in NC Trump endorsed a dude nobody’s ever heard of for the open senate seat being vacated by inside-trader Richard Burr. It’s caused some hurt feefees and a lot of big talk from the other hard right freaks who thought they would get the “complete and total endorsement” (what even is that? Is there a partial endorsement?). Also the primaries have been delayed until June because of Republican map drawing skullduggery, so they have more time to fight it out and spend all their money while Democrats coalesce around consensus candidate Cheri Beasley, a former state Supreme Court Chief Justice. So it could go our way. We’ve had D senators before, I mean everyone remembers John Edwards fondly, right?

I do not share your optimism. The pandemic is out of control in terms of getting hillbilly dipshits to do the bare minimum, which they won't. We will continue to have new variants every 3-6 months until the Republicans wake up and realize they're killing their future insurrectionists through Covid disinfo, or until Red America obliterates itself through vaccine denialism and physically cannot send enough people to the polls to vote their own brand of dipshits into office because the morgues are overflowing.

Omicron may not be that bad, but I will forever be looking to the horizon for the next goddamn variant, which will always be around the corner so long as said hillbilly dipshits keep infecting all of us.

Also, Putin would dare. Dude annexed part of Ukraine last time he was on this path. Expecting him not to press forward when he has a foothold in that country, as well as expecting him not to test Biden when our democracy has been fundamentally weakened by a treasonous President and a treasonous party is naive.

Sounds like maybe the message is being carried through the building over at Fox News that if Donald Trump, the loser former president, does not stop whining about his embarrassing election loss in 2020, he runs a serious risk of losing it for the Republicans again in 2022.

Hmmmm awkward

a D win in ‘22 is within the realm of possibility for the aforementioned reasons, if they lose the Rs will point out that it proves the elections are fixed … they’re supposed to win after all … how this all will pan out is that losing losers will cry bitter tears or our experiment in democracy comes crashing down with an R win …
