What's next? Reparations for the slaveholders' fortunes wiped out by their enslaved chattel being declared free? The states of the Confederacy held the preponderance of the US national wealth if you counted up the "market value" of all the people held in bondage, which helped embolden the states that seceded. Never mind the negligible manufacturing capacity and the sparse and rickety railroads and the dependence on the North and Europe to buy railroad engines and rails and steam engines for the riverboats, all of the modern infrastructure needed to support the South's agricultural economy. The world needed the cotton grown in the South with slave labor so the plantation owners thought they held the whip hand over the whole civilized world.
So can we expect an initiative from the Department of Education to make our public schools safe for bullies? How about suing the Native American tribes for the expenses incurred while stealing their land and confining them to the poorest and most worthless, wretched plots of land available? That was an expensive multi generational and national effort, chasing them out of the fertile lands they had occupied and crushing their resistance to robbery and genocide.
Diversity hires for white men can actually go the opposite direction. One of Mr. Anzu's PhD committee members wrote his dissertation on Black teachers along the Underground Railroad- and was invited to a ton of interviews for universities, who were surprised when a white guy showed up. Obviously he got hired by the one Mr. Anzu attended.
And Mr. Anzu himself is a white guy in education. ANY male in education is generally given a slight edge since it's a female dominated career. Most of them end up going into educational leadership, though, since being the principal pays more than being a run of the mill teacher. It was a year in high school as a history teacher that made Mr. Anzu flee to the halls of an educational PhD program, since he quickly learned he prefers teaching older students and not freshman.
As a plaintiffs'-side employment lawyer, I can tell you that I am not seeing any great rush in my profession to bring aggrieved white guy discrimination claims.

To all the average white guys, no offense, but I spent 42 years watching mediocre (or worse) get the promotions and good jobs. Pity the poor white guy who lost a job to a more qualified woman or POC>? Not a chance.
Oh hey, if they want to give white male candidates a fair chance, maybe we need to make anonymized application processing a thing where the candidates are only judged on their academic and professional merits and not their photo or name. You can't give the job to Habibi the trans gay muslim "man" with pink hair peaking out from under her hijab if you can't see the photo or see the name.

But hey, if we're entirely wrong about how the world works and this actually leads to more white men being hired, then I would still consider this a good idea. I hate any kind of discrimination. The underlying assumption in this is that life is a zero sum game. That the only way for a minority to get ahead is by taking something away from white males. It’s the complete opposite of the “rising tide lifts all boats” argument they make for giving tax cuts for the wealthy.
