But what about the conservative Christian fee fees?
Wonkette would like to seethe for a minute, about this:
A pride flag waving outside the Hillsborough County center was meant to be a sign of respect and remembrance for the victims of the shooting at an LGBT nightclub in Orlando.
But just a day after it was raised, Commissioner Stacy White said it may be offending Christian employees and questioned whether it should be taken down.
In an email sent to the the county human relations director Peggy Rowe on Thursday, White said he received an anonymous complaint from a county employee that the presence of the flag was “nearly unbearable” for her to pass on her way to work and created a "hostile work environment."
Calling the rainbow flag a “divisive, politically-charged symbol,” White asked Rowe if it could become an HR problem for the county. If it does, then White said he wanted a special meeting of the county commission to consider removing it.
Poor Stacy White, what with the "divisive, politically-charged symbol" that represents the LGBT community, which was specifically targeted in Orlando for murder. Poor anonymous whiny ass titty baby county employee, who allegedly sent an email saying it would be "unbearable" to have to pass a flag that represents ...thosepeople.
Did nobody on the county commission -- which voted 5-1 to raise the flag, at a time when Commissioner White was not present, probably because he was combing his butthurt dick hair -- even stop to think how such a display might hurt the sincerely held fee-fees of a few anti-gay wingnut Christians?
[wonkbar][/wonkbar]Maybe it hits too close to home for some of these Bible-believin' conservative types. A man, whose religion taught him hate (and likely internalized shame ) toward LGBT people, murdered LGBT people in a club. Lots of them. This gunman happened to be a Muslim, but those religious teachings could have just as easily come from many of the Southern Baptist churches in America. They might be the same religious teachings that would make an anonymous county employee and a county commissioner figuratively step over 49 fresh bodies so they can find a clear spot on the ground to stomp and cry about THEIR FEELINGS.
[wonkbar][/wonkbar]We already explained last week that these murders are about a lot of things, but they're not about dead-end asshole anti-gay wingnuts. Just like the Charleston murders weren't about racist white assholes, no matter how much Fox News bile-rockets tried to reframe the murder of nine black people in a church as an "attack on all Christians." (Fun fact: Stupid fuckass Howie Kurtz actually made that very same argument about Charleston again this weekend.)
But, lest we be redundant, we have a message for the anonymous county employee with a case of the #upsets, and also for Commissioner White, and for anybody else out there offended by the sight of gay pride flags springing up all around Florida and elsewhere:
It's not about you. What we mean by that is that it's not about you. As in, when we say that, we are simply pointing out that literally nothing about this has anything to do with you. If we're not being clear enough, perhaps we should note that your pathetic mewling feelings upon seeing a flag commemorating victims from a minority group you find icky are not actually a part of this story. On top of that, it's not about you.
If wingnut Christians were playing "Jeopardy!" and the category was "About Me," the answer for $500, Alex, would be "What are the Orlando shootings not?"
Oh wait. We just remembered the one way this is about you. If you were taking this moment to stand and tearfully apologize to LGBT people for your past sins against them, then in a tiny way, it would be about you.
But it still wouldn't be about you, not really.

Butthurt Crybabies For Jesus Just Sickened By All These Rainbow Flags In Florida
WHO DOESN'T LIKE RAINBOWS. WHO WANTS TO BE IN A RELIGION THAT FINDS RAINBOWS OFFENSIVE.
True story: My husband grew up LDS, and his family still is. When his mom died, we inherited her "family cookbook." Which was basically just a big ring binder filled with page upon page of horrific recipes all printed out in dot-matrix. The things they put in Jello . . . Sweet Mergatroyd.
