(Not denigrating PR positions, or even non-combat positions. The closest I ever got to actual combat was sitting 3 miles off the coast of Mogadishu a couple days after Blackhawk Down happened, watching tracer rounds fall into the sea short of our ship. I still spent my last 18 months of service getting combat pay, because I spent at least 1 day out of each month in a 'combat zone', which included the Atlantic off the coast of Columbia.)
