Bears repeating Darn it, California, you just keep making us godless liberals out here in flyover land love you, even though we don't want to live in any damn California. But just look at some of the nifty new laws that went into effect in the Golden State as of January 1 while some of us spent the day oversleeping and finally watching Black Mirror on Netflix (OMG the one with the pig!).
I live near the capitol, and used to travel for work long ago; the whole state is not LA or SF, there are places to snow ski, we don't all surf, no you cannot spend and hour at SF, Sacramento, and Fresno in one day. I used to work in the Clinical research business (we provided data for drug trials by recruiting people willing to participate; it's complicated), and Monitors visit study sites to inspect the records we kept on study participants. They were all based on the east coast and could not seem to figure out we have counties or even cities that were larger than their states. In all my travels, there were places I would visit again, but none that I would ever want to call "home."
it also begs the question of why they drew the line of official state travel to TX on the bill that allows Catholic Charities to tell gay parents they'll have to adopt kids from someone else, or if they could have simply told us it was the final straw.
My guess is it was more of a final straw thing - and if I recall correctly it was the AG finding that TX fell under the travel ban rule on that account, rather than the legislature specifically calling out TX.
(TX news article confirming my "AG" recollection: Linky.
To be a bit childish (but sincere) ... yay, California!I'm telling you. It all started with teaching evolution and then protesting the Vietnam War. You never can tell where these trends will end.
Is no gmo bacteria possible?
Except for Orange County.
The like Canada bit, not the fucking cold bit.
Cross traffic?
Vancouver weather is imported from SF.

I didn't think your lege was calling us out.

Yep, I got a ticket for running a stop sign on my bike when I was a teen. In CA. I do love these new laws though.

I loved living there. I finally fit in politically.
Yes, but what about Montserrat?

Gee that's who the lady holding the swearing-in bible in the Doug Jones story reminds me of, Lily Munster.
Too curvy, she's a real woman.
