I am sorry, but REAL taxing of billionaires should leave THEM with 5% of their total wealth.

And then they'd *still* be worth at least USD$50,000,000.00. Tell 'em to quit their bitchin'!!

Right in line with Ike's ideas, and he was an R.

Millions of white Americans appear to want not the Trump they have but the Trump they wish they could have. An emotionally stable person who actually makes the system work only for white people while keeping everyone else in their supposed place. So why don’t Republicans run candidates like that? Because things don’t work that way for a reason - the people who promote fear and hatred of Those People do so as a distraction, because their true goals are personal power and making the system work only for billionaires.

"So why don’t Republicans run candidates like that?"

Because Lester Maddox is dead?

Hi, I had to work, and there's no looking up from that shit. Are we still a remote democracy? Oh, wait;

"He continued, “I wouldn’t say there’s a single one that would surprise me if it stayed red, not one. Not Ohio, not Kansas, not Texas, not Iowa, not Alaska, not one of ’em. Not one of ’em would surprise me, they’re all pretty close in the private polling. They’ve closed up.”

Halperin added this all means Republicans can “overcome” an early-vote deficit to the Democrats."

Not according to Mark Halperin. They're going to rig to fuck out of these "elections" and Mark Halperin is there to help.

"private polling" is doing a LOT of heavy lifting there. Natalie "Diaper Genie®" provides Orangini with a lot of "private polling," also too. Look what he says ...

I'm getting antsy so I may run to my polling place to vote, grab chili fixins and vodka while the Mr finishes processing about 15 pounds of pumpkin. The Cuisinart is about to overheat XD

Just a few more hours until most of the texts I get are from people I know, almost none of whom want me to give them money!

The people that believe the anti-Prop 40 ads never stop and think "why is somebody spending so much money to make sure this fails?"

I voted against it. I want more than 5% of Leon's money taxed, but he's in Texas. A national wealth tax is what's needed.

Snarfyguy's avatar

I'm thinking of it like, the great is the enemy of the good.

Jamoche's avatar

Yeah. Even the ads saying it won't raise money if it passes aren't discouraging me they way they want: worst case situation, it doesn't pass, we don't get money, or it does, they leave, we don't get money, but *we let them know how much we hate them*.

No Quid Bro Code's avatar

I'm not even sure a wealth tax is a good thing, but if we're doing it, I want it national. The nice thing that the U.S. government can do that California cannot is tax U.S. nationals anywhere they live in the world. Billionaires can always renounce their citizenship, but then they can't donate to our elections. I'm fine with that.

The one in Massachusetts seems to be working better than expected. The nature of our country is that change has to start somewhere, and that's often at the state level.

Georgiaburning's avatar

I’ve seen the ads, they’re “first they’ll come for the billionaires, then they’ll come for you” talk. Hey, if you’re coming for the billionaires, do you need anything sharpened?

Not only does she not try to fuck David Crowley out of spite, she begs Wisconsinites not to vote for her.

A belated 5% "thank you" to the tax payers who built the infrastructure from public schools to roadways and all points in between that allows your immense and obscene wealth isn't the point.

A billionaires couch is large enough to lose that kinda change.

It's the principle of the motherfucker.

Every arrogant man thinks himself a king until he’s hogtied and being dragged into a barn by his hair. Polite society is a two-way street, and some of us like getting mean.

Been a lovely day here once the morning clouds dispersed. Warm enough so I went and paid a guy to trim my hair, then stopped at a little local place to get lunch. A quinoa bowl; the place is a new healthy food joint. I have to be worried about their prospects; they are a VERY SMALL storefront on a side street; and there already is a vegan place on a corner a literal stone's throw from them. I really want them to make it; I'd much rather have a grain bowl with chicken than a cauliflower crust pizza with non-dairy cheese....

Right around the time Republicans swept the 2010 midterms -- after we put in all the work to put President Obama in office in 2008 -- because a lot of Americans were smug and not paying attention
