I like canada but would never want to have it as another state. Way too liberal! Carney will be just like trudeau, just give him time.

I remember when canadians had some moxy…

I'll vote for a corporatist party when hell freezes over. Yes, we progressives have been beaten to our knees, but I'll go to my grave happy I never drank that particular kool-aid. Add up the person-years of child poverty, housing shortages, soaring education costs, tar sands pollution, declining defense, etc., assign by Liberal or Conservative federal governments, and you'll find little difference.

John Strycharz's avatar

If whataboutism is all you've got to justify voting for hungry children, then you got nothing.

God bless you Canada! And please remember that there are a lot of Americans who love Canada/ians and hate the Combover Caligula with every fiber (fibre) of their being!!! The problem is that too many Americans are just lazy arseholes who don't vote, and I have nothing but contempt for them. They, as much as the RethugliKKKonazis, did this to us.

Thank god Mark Carney won, Canadians are not so easily led by false promises! 🤷‍♀️🍁🇨🇦👱‍♀️

Ta, Dom. Fabulous photos, as always.

Good job, Canada. Wish we could tell him to fuck off and he would actually go away. We’ll just have to wait for the Reaper.

That day will be the biggest turnout that Tangerine Traitor ever had. Problem is JD Vladimir Futon is even worse because he's not demented and he uses what smarts he has for evil.

I’m with Daniel, Vance is not the cult leader that Trump is, besides everyone hates him.

Daniel O'Riordan's avatar

He also won't have the cult behind him, and too many Republicans have been sitting around DC waiting for Chump to die so they can step up.

They'll bowl him over like he was trying to order donuts.

O CANADA!

I'm flying my Canadian flag today. I'm not Canadian but I'm still reppin'.

I’d like to think that, given a chance for another election, that it would go very differently here. Maybe I’m a dreamer.

Daniel O'Riordan's avatar

Imagine how it would go if everyone the Republicans prevent from voting had the opportunity.

We saw four years of this guy already. With a booming economy, 15 million new jobs, and manufacturing of chips and cars being re-shored by a Democrat, we still decided to elect him again, instead of the black lady. I've lost faith in the American electorate not to do the stupidest thing.

A majority would've been better but Bloc leader Yves Blanchet has already spoken of a "truce" to face the current threat. Trump truly has become the uniter he always boasts about. And I trust that my NDP MP Jenny Kwan, who got at least a few of votes thanks to my last Wonkette post according to the internet, will rise to the occasion.

HAH! Poilievre lost his own seat! Gotta love it!

After holding it for the better part of 20 years. He really believed he owned it.

I was fully expecting you guys to do that with your election last year. Stunned you didn't.

You're stunned?

We are wishing that we are unconscious. It sucks living around so many idiots.

How sweet it is that Poilievre lost not only the election but his own seat ...

If only trumpism were as toxic in the US as it is everywhere else. I take some hope from skum's candidate's loss in WI, and from the losses of many candidates whom scump has backed -- but he was returned to the WH, and that's a horrifying indictment of the US.

"The Conservative Party shoots self in foot by selecting 12th leader in a row who is odious human being" - film at 11.

Its almost like its a fetish for them to NEED to follow the least charismatic politician they can find.

I watched the Cons steadily devolve over the years. Already in troglodyte territory.

Could the US become the 11th province please?

calliecallie, aka pollyanna's avatar

I was just thinking about that today. I would settle for the northern half of the US becoming the 11th province.

And then I was thinking about the balkanization of the US, and how it really is amazing we have kept these states united all these years, because different parts of the country could as easily be different countries. I have lived most of my life in Great Lakesland, which, in my brain, runs from just west of the Hudson river to Minnesota, and may or may not include southern Ohio and southern Illinois. It could be its own country, compared to the rest of the US. Anywhere else, it would be. Likewise New England, it totally should be its own country. Likewise WestCoastia. Texas and Hawaii obviously should be their own countries. Alaska, probably, although if ever there were a likely 11th province...

Okay, I had a few glasses of wine at lunch with friends. I'll stop now.

New Mexico is thinking that maybe just dropping the "New" and just opening the border might be a good idea.

Michigan and Western New York would like a word. Lakes Ontario and Erie get no respect.

Over the past year or so, I've been developing Loyalist tendencies. Great Britain had fought a very expensive war for the benefit of British Americans, and quite reasonably thought they should help out with the bills. To pay down the enormous government debt. But Sam Adams, the Alex Jones of his era, got all pissy about taxes, just like regular Republicans. And thus ensued the War of the Revolting Americans.

Daniel O'Riordan's avatar

And what was one of their first actions?

They trespassed on private property and vandalized what, in today's terms could be millions of dollars of tea as a protest against a private, for profit corporation that had nothing to do with formulating or enforcing that government policy.

The icing on the cake, they all dressed up as a marginalized, vulnerable minority so that, if there were any witnesses, they wouldn't get in trouble.
