I just love this morning's Tabs image. That pretty little bird perching so delicately on the stem of that vivid blooming river reed is simply enchanting.
Re: Pokeweed We have a bumper crop of it in our yard too. I love the way it can make a roadside or empty lot look lush and almost tropical with those gorgeous berry clumps, however, I would never eat it even after all the processing they say to do. Making ink would be more like it. Birds love those berries and then their poop will stain everything. I would rather have a mulberry tree in my yard, since at least you can eat those staining fruit, even though you can't clothes out on the line then either.
Disabled sister called me yesterday and said she thinks she had an infected kidney. Ugh. I talked her through some basic diagnostics; the staff in her group home disagreed about the severity of the situation, and my limited medical knowledge also disagreed about the severity of the situation, so I talked her off the "I want to go to an ER" cliff down to an urgent care center first thing this morning.
Good news! Not a kidney infection! Just a bog standard UTI. Nurse who saw her said that her go-to method for testing is to give the kidney a good poke; if it's infected the patient will usually jump off the table. The soreness in that area is likely unrelated back pain. She got an antibiotic shot and will be put on a full course of antibiotics to nuke the UTI.
Because disabled sister is on full blown Medicare, the process this morning didn't cost us anything but time. I registered online, sent them pre-scanned copies of her cards, marked myself as the backup payee, and because they will file with Medicare, there is no copay. (I did have to present my credit card to get the $0 copay option, which I found odd. )
Just a reminder, this Friday is the 3rd Friday of the month, and therefore the monthly San Francisco monthly wonk meet up. Embarcadero Hyatt Regency. The Eclipse Restaurant and Bar in the Atrium. We sit on the right as you cross from teh elevators as you cross from the elevators. Look for a woman in a wheelchair--that's me.
Reunification therapy with someone who has been accused of sexual abuse and general abuse is an asinine idea. And when it'd proposed by a "christian" therapist it can only mean brainwashing the children into thinking that they MUST obey their father, even though their father has forfeited all right to their trust. It's just good ol' christian patriarchism.
Bloodwork results coming in; cholesterol numbers all improved in 5 mos, half are in normal range now and 1 very close. One needs a bit more improvement. But MAJOR improvement in one year.
Waiting on new A1C, which went from 10.8 to 6.4 in a year, last taken 5 mos ago. And in the last 5 months I've been off one diabetes pill and reduced the other by 75%. And numbers continue to improve.
Diet and exercise. Extremely healthy food specifically for my needs, targeted exercises, every day. And the stronger I get, muscle more toned, weight going down, the more I'll be able to do, more fat burned, cholesterol and blood sugar better. Blood pressure, historically on the low side, had started crashing, so Doc reduced that pill and I did so further, until I just quit, b/c I felt better, less light-headed and dizzy on the days I didn't take it. He was fine with it yesterday at the appt, since my numbers are fine, tend toward low.
I'm fucking winning. I can't believe it, but I'm doing it.
Yeah, if you're not gonna throw money at Harris (who has plenty) throw it at a governor's or Senate race, because apparently Wonkette needs big granny glasses and it can't see anything as itty bitty tiny as a House district.
Never mind that the U.S. House of Representatives is Democracy's main bulwark, and that if Trump's minions manage to steal the election, they will do it through the House. Not the Senate and not state Governors. The House of Representatives.
Mary Peltola controls Alaska's House delegation all by herself, and she is having her first re-election, in a red state, without a Palin to run against. She could use some help.
Eugene Vindman, a fucking hero of the LAST time Trump held power, is in a tight race for Virginia's 7th District, the winner of which will decide whether the fascists or the good guys will control the Virginia delegation. He could use some love, too.
I'm sure Wonkette could find some other key House races that just might save our Democracy if they put their granny glasses on and look.
Why are Chump and Vance so het up about Springfield? In 2018 and 2020, he could scream migrant caravan and mobilize the entire military on the southern border as an election tactic.
"the federal government has failed to provide sufficient data to support the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 boosters"
Oh, WELL, THEN, the feds don't have data on the boosters which supposedly were going to kill millions (which*checks notes* didn't happen) and which data I'm sure the Very Serious People of Florida's Department of Health wouldn't believe in the first place because EVIL FEDS and Natural News said it's a hoax anyway and ivermectin and argle bargle, right, Florida?

If Convicted Felon PAB wins we will all be bittern.
All the wannabe pole dancers on YouTube need to look at this and aim for grace.
Interesting choice.

Somebody here (mobem maybe, I forget) has changed their avi to "Lotus for Potus." I love that!
Casually agile, that birb...
I wish my feet did that!
Pole dancing birds!
It would be hard to find shoes that fit, though.
The colors in that are so soothing. Love that palette.
I just love this morning's Tabs image. That pretty little bird perching so delicately on the stem of that vivid blooming river reed is simply enchanting.
And it looks like it's saying "Tabs! Tabs! Tabs!"
I love this so much! How amazing nature is. Is that bird tiny or are those flowers/reeds enormous?
The flowers are indeed large.
Those feets!
I look at that Birb and I think yup Dinosaur!
"Polk Salad Annie" is actually a very good song. You need to listen to the original.

I finally figured out why MSM repeats tRumps lies - "We were only following orders". Heard that before.

Why can't it be this easy for everyone???????
🥰 and 🏆 for your advocacy.
Yeah, it ought to be easier.

It's almost like they hate people who are not adult white males!
We're pale as can be here and my poor hubby has to put up with my daily rants against religion and the patriarchy.
Called my Senator (the one not named Sherrod Brown) again to have a say about Springfield. His voicemail mailbox is still full, just like Friday.
I gave him the weekend, because I assumed his staff doesn't work weekends. White people, you know.

Now, he can't.
Here's what FL says to do to stay healthy:
"Staying physically active,
Minimizing processed foods,
Prioritizing vegetables and healthy fats,"
Do they even know FL Man? This sounds like advice from Former First Lady, Michelle Obama.
* Avoid wrasslin with gators unless they stole something from you
* When filming something for TikTok, avoid stunts that would make Evel Kneviel blink
* Bonfires to summon portals from other worlds still require permits
* Wear sunscreen when attempting to shoot down chemtrails

Insurance company will not even cover vaccines AT THE COUNTY HEALTH DEPT, which is like ground zero for any vaccines. |
I would need to likely change doctors, IF I CAN find one who gives the vax, to get it. The FUCK?!
Made ten calls through the morning, many texts with spouse who is seeing patients. He also has no ideas left.
Poke *sallet*. Yes, I'm that guy.
I never thought I'd ever see one IRL!

I would find being known to own one of those, to be embarrassing. But of course I am both old and lower class.
Myself as well.
They’re bigger and weirder in person, right?
Yeah, pictures just don't do justice to how oddly proportioned they are.
And it just down poured here! HAHAHAHAHAHA!
And it didn't melt!
Yet.
