WOMEN! All the Church wants them to do is take vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, and in return they can ... live in poverty, chastity, and obedience! (Did you know that when a woman takes her nunly vows, it is not the holy rite of ordination like a priest would get?) But also in return, nuns get to minister to the sick and the poor and do all the other works of "Mother" Church and they can rest easy at night knowing the burden of making decisions for themselves will not be weighing on their shoulders. Unfortunately, sometimes one or all of them does get a bee in her bonnet about some flighty thing. (Probably shoes? We hear they like Prada.) But luckily for them, the Pope is so good at clearing his schedule when they get out of line with their "social justice" and "compassion" nonsense, and flies to rescue them from themselves. And that is what he did for poor misguided Mercy Sister Margaret Farley, a professor emeritus of Christian ethics at Yale. Which prompts the question: Why is Yale conferring such special status on some dumb, defective broad who obviously don't know her Bible? Oh, well, let us let the Inquisition sort it out.
Bring it, Beeb:
The Holy See's orthodoxy office said the 2005 book, Just Love, by Sister Margaret Farley posed "grave harm" to the faithful.
It said her ideas on masturbation, homosexual acts, homosexual unions and remarriage were in "direct contradiction" with Catholic teaching.
Sister Farley said her ideas were coherent with theological tradition.
The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the Vatican's doctrinal department, said her writings revealed a "defective understanding of the objective nature of natural moral law" and were "in direct contradiction with Catholic teaching in the field of sexual morality".
The notification was signed by department head Cardinal William Levada and approved by Pope Benedict XVI.
The Vatican has also banned the use of the book by Catholic teachers.
Sorry, Vatty, but banning is not good enough. Burn books or GTFO! But what does Sr. Farley say about this (as if we should even let her answer)?
Although my responses to some particular sexual ethical questions do depart from some traditional Christian responses, I have tried to show that they nonetheless reflect a deep coherence with the central aims and insights of these theological and moral traditions. Whether through interpretation of biblical texts, or through an attempt to understand “concrete reality” (an approach at the heart of “natural law”), the fact that Christians (and others) have achieved new knowledge and deeper understanding of human embodiment and sexuality seems to require that we at least examine the possibility of development in sexual ethics. This is what my book, Just Love, is about.
BURN HER!
The Church don't need your stinking "scholarship," NUN LADY! And while we're at it, let's get that slut Sister Wendy on the pyre too, always nattering on as she is about "lovely, fluffy pubic hair" and other things she should not even know exist . It is a pity so many Catholic nuns are trying to infringe on the Church's freedom of religion, by disagreeing with them sometimes. Sorry "nuns," next time try having magical penises. Might want to track pregnancies as a function of these meetings. Just saying ... dark room candle light ... always worked for Janet and me.
So Newtie lied to a nun.
