Im pretty sure that no one is surprised that religious school = hypocrisy and I find it a little odd if he is gay and his parents know that (and are cool with it) why he would attend such a school. Its not paid with tax dollars, its their little religious club and Im not sure why he should expect a historically bigoted and intolerant institution to be anything but what they are.
Having said that, there is probably at least one other gay boy at the school and they should see if they can find a matching pair of lesbian 'dates' for a little 'mixed doubles action to blow a bunch of tiny minds.
But as to the larger issue, I certainly dont want the small minded bigoted Talibangelicals telling the rest of us how to live, but in this case, this is their school, their party and there shouldnt really be any expectation that they be reasonable and decent.

It's not. Over a million people in the United States have HIV, and most of us are doing fine.
