I wonder whether Colbert's true crime was lese majesty against the owner of paramount. The billionaire aristocracy hates when their underlings don't show sufficient deference to them. That it made FFOTUS happy was just gravy.
Colbert is a genius! He will 1,000% land on his feet elsewhere, even if only on the inter-webs. They can't shut him down there. Trump can go EFF off, the frail, lying POS.
For a nation that prides itself on macho masculinity, our (mostly male) leaders sure are a cowardly lot. Possibly they are even more cowardly than corrupt, though that's a tough call.
I went to cancel my paramount subscription and top trending article on site is “how to cancel subscription” Ahh yes we are canceling en mass for first amendment reasons in language they understand MONEY. And with that big merger…
That final video of fake right-wing “Colbert” was great. I wonder if dude behind him wasn’t in on the joke or just trying not to laugh. And how many congresspersons had no idea who he was? Also too I see Dana Bash lurking in the back not laughing. Was she at CNN yet at the time?
I would contribute to ensure that happens. Only if Colbert uses some of Rooney's phrases/sayings. But stay in a serious character. Maybe Colbert could come out with the (anti)-Trump Show and continuously mock Trump daily?
Ta, Marcie. Back when Jon Stewart was still pretending to be a decent human, I went to Washington DC for the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear, starring Stewart and Colbert. I went for two reasons. The first was to speak with young people about why voting is so important, so I volunteered at the rally to have a chance to do that. The second was that friends from various places in the US, including Alaska (!) were coming to an afterparty hosted by a DC friend. We all had signs; my favorite was "God Talks to You? There's Medication for That."
Paramount would be such an easy boycott if they didn't carry European soccer. Other than the Daily Show, Colbert, and Ghosts, their programming is just bad.
Also, John Stewart is actually my least favorite host right now. Desi is my favorite and the young correspondents are all fantastic.
The Daily Show has a podcast that's just the audio of the TV shows so you don't even need Paramount + for that either, even if you do miss the sight gags.
Also, Pluto is Paramount-owned and it's free so a lot of the same stuff (movies, older TV shows) can be found there.
Thanks for ending with that Colbert video. So great. In character from The Colbert Report in testimony.

KARMA IS COMING, rapidly.
Psych.
Once the Skydance/Paramount deal goes through, they’ll “reconsider” ending The Late Show.
I predict.
i am sure that he'll land on his feet somewhere - or even start his own (not in a man shed like tucker tho, unless he does it ironically)
It took 10 minutes to listen to that 2:16 min Colbert clip. CBS's servers must be ... umm ... overloaded.

I just texted Paramount and advised I am doing the same thing.
Colbert should take his show to PBS, and he could be their biggest fundraiser...

This just seems like a great opportunity for ABC, NBC, and / or HBO Max.
It would be extra hilarious if Colbert volunteered to do Andy Rooney-style segments on 60 Minutes for free, just to troll Trump.

Jon Stewart is a decent human; just not perfect. Neither are you or I.
No one could give Trump a "handy", it would seem all Trump's blood is pooled in his ankles.
Cankles should be his new nick-name. He'd mock Hillary and Biden and "Kamalla".
Diet Coke
How many people will be at the next protests with signs that say, "Who's Afraid of Stephen Colbert"
So, cue the memes.

Wanted to add they also have clips from the shows on You Tube.
