There was a joke tweet yesterday purporting to be from a (fictional) Republican praising Vance in the debate 12 hours before the debate had happened. The joke kept going, pointing out that people only had a problem with it because it was posted AM instead of PM but the Republican wouldn't change his mind just because the debate hadn't happened.

Anyway, Ross Doubthat did the same thing with his article about Vance's debate performance.

You sure it wasn't a real Republican? They usually have the best comedy.

Don't worry, it's just me and my brain slurpee.

I listened on the radio which often gives a different sense than one gets from tv. on the whole I thought Vance was mainly trying to appear less crazy than we all know he is. CBS tripped up this plan several times.

"I thought Vance was mainly trying to appear less crazy..."

I thought so too. He is clearly a normal intellect out to scam and grab what he can while he can. We know he can regulate (unlike Trump), so we also know he is brazenly lying when he says outrageous shit.

It's over. I watched it. Tim did good. It was an interesting match. This isn't Tim's strong suite but he did well. He stuck to policy, mostly. The thing that struck me, knowing Vance from past to present, is that he is a very smart sociopath. I don't believe the stuff that Trump's kids picked him. The powers behind Trump picked him. He is verbal and a great one to to distort the facts in whatever direction he chooses. He is much more dangerous than trump and would be president when trump dies--which he probably will if elected. He's like the Ronald Regan of the maga right. I can only hope that women dislike him as much as we dislike trump. And that we understand what's at stake here.

yes, vance is a very smart sociopath, and therefore much more dangerous than trump--also, he's dangerous TO trump...vance will not hesitate to 25th-amendment trump, and if trump is elected, i fully expect vance and whatever heritage foundation nazi cabinet that's been assembled to do so by mid-april of 2025, if not sooner

"...vance will not hesitate to 25th-amendment trump..."

This occurred to me recently. I think the greater part of the GOP may be planning on just that.

i'm near-sure of it, and trump has done it to himself...the old-school regulars have had enough of his one-way loyalty demands and his unpredictable bullshit&nonsense, and the howler monkey freedumb caucus will be more than happy to turn on him, fighting and falling all over each other to move up to the next step on the psycho ladder

Vance is smarter than Trump (obviously) and a better debater than Trump (obviously). But he was still employing Trump's "Gish Gallop" technique. Makes it tough. And sadly, the MAGAts will just eat it up.

Aside, it is hilarious how Trump considers himself the consummate debater, and his sycophants slobber it out to back him up.

I was thinking that vance sounded good (when he answered the questions - which wasn't often) but then I remembered every word he spoke was a lie.

Juvenile Delinquent Vance (if that even is his real, legal name) is going to use the old Gish gallop technique, a full-automatic spray of tendentious lies. What's to stop him? I bet he can smear faster than any human can refute his idiotic canards, unless you just go with "NONE of that was anywhere in the same zipcode as the truth, and it made no sense. There isn't time enough in this broadcast to prove every statement he made false, I'd be up here for weeks, citing facts and statistics that disprove every lie that just came out of Hillbilly Effigy's mouth."

Uncle Tim should ask JV if he's letting his kids stay up past their bedtime to see Daddy cry.

(Gov Coach Tim would never ask such a thing, but maybe he needs an alter ego like Obama had--Anger Translator, Slow Jam the News Obama or Kid President)
