As a Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native, I appreciate this post very much. My sister was born in Regina and she doesn't find the, "well, weren't we all?" jokes nearly as funny as I do.

An old Politico article that seems more relevant today.

Trump teen rape accuser abruptly calls off news conference

LOS ANGELES — A woman who has filed federal lawsuits accusing Donald Trump of raping her two decades ago, when she was 13, abruptly canceled a news conference Wednesday at which she was to detail her extraordinary claims against the GOP presidential nominee.

In the most recent suit, Trump’s accuser asserts that while she was exploring a modeling career in 1994, she attended a series of parties at the Manhattan home of prominent investor Jeffrey Epstein. She alleges that during those parties the real estate mogul tied her to a bed and raped her.

Going public with a rape accusation against the sitting president of the US has got to take a massive amount of nerve. If it were to resurface now (yes, I know that's an article from his first term), it would take even more given how he's surrounded himself with toadies who are clearly willing to take any action he wants against a perceived enemy.

Route 93 and 495 are very dangerous highways. I live off 495 and travel 93 several times a week. I'm not really sure why they are so dangerous. They are straight and fairly well maintained and the most dangerous sections are not really the most populated or congested, but traffic can come to a stop pretty quick when jams happen. And it really is a highly dense populated area in general. I think it's just that people who travel along the dangerous sections get lulled into going too fast or not paying attention.

In the post (which you can read if you click on the link) he seems to be backtracking on what's happening at the CDC and RFK Jr's anti-vax crusade . . . there were some others, as well, including one sounding off about India . . . someone's behind the curtain . . .

But that's the problem: we know he's NOT writing this shit . . . so is it legit? . . . or is somebody just making shit up to placate the masses? . . . is Trump still actually dictating ANY policy?

I'm not even gonna speculate on the obvious questions . . . because at this point, I'm getting the feeling they're already moving on without him 💀 . . .

Stephen Miller is REALLY bad at pretending to be Trump.

Like this doesn’t even almost sound like a Trump tweet

Bill Johnson @Bill43111

How to tell Trump didn’t write a tweet?

Big words. Today the word is “extraordinary.” Yesterday it was “discredited.”

Now do a X search of … Stephen Miller extraordinary … and see how often he uses “extraordinary” about people or things. Here is one example:

Stephen Miller on deportations and control of the military: "These are extraordinary powers that belong to the President and the President alone."

We live just a few miles from the Walter Reuther UAW complex. It's an amazing thing. Reuther thought union folks should be able to afford a holiday, a vacation up by a lake, where they could play and fish and golf, and take educational courses, and eat good meals, etc. To this day, you can't park a non-American made car in their official parking lot! ...

Mysterysurf's avatar

How do they know what an American-made car is anymore? Are they still basing that on brand names?

Lefty Wright's avatar

As far as I know most foreign labeled cars made in America are from non-union factories. That's why they are located in Southeast states. So it is a pro-union move.

According to cars.com, the Telluride is behind the Bronco, Explorer, F-150, and F-150 Lightning.

It cost 10 grand more than a comparable car that isn't 'American-made'. Unless you've got an employee discount.

Toomush Expectashuns's avatar

Pretty much. It is in Michigan, after all. I have to drive Mrs. Toomush's Ford F-150, if I want to park in the lot. Otherwise my RAV4 has to park farther away from the golf course!...

Erik Loomis has an essay in the NYT today:

Trump Is Wiping Out Unions. Why Are They So Quiet?

Based on actions Mr. Trump has taken this year — and without any notable public pushback from supposedly pro-labor Republicans like Josh Hawley and Marco Rubio — it is unlikely that there will be any unionized federal workers outside of policing agencies by the end of his term in 2029.

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/09/01/opinion/trump-unions-labor.html

Zyxomma's avatar

It's a fine article, and makes great points. It's also the first time I've clicked on a NYT article in probably six months, because The Times is so fascist-forward that I loathe and detest them.

My Union (SEIU-1199) just elected new leadership, about which we know next to nothing. On the one hand, I'm retiring in June of 2026 so what they do or don't won't change my life. OTOH, most of our workforce is POC, especially women of color, who work shitty jobs in hospitals, nursing homes, and home care. Before they had Union representation, their low wages would be stolen by the agencies responsible for hiring them. I shudder to think.

Toomush Expectashuns's avatar

Unions should be screaming at the top of their lungs. Whar they?...

I took riding lessons at the Shamrock Ranch a lifetime ago. I always wanted a horse, too. I kinda got my wish, years later. I was provided company housing at the best job ever, and part of my duties included feeding the boss's horses and mucking the stalls. OK, I was cured of my horse fantasy right quick!

Rosy red ASS's avatar

You will be very sad to hear that Shamrock Ranch is up for sale. They still have horsed but not for long.

Biff52 vrag naroda's avatar

Sad. It’ll probably be subdivided. That’s a couple hundred acres! We used to go there at lunch and after school for treats when they had the Sun Valley Dairy store there. We had a well-worn path that went under the fence of Linda Mar Elementary.
