Charlie Crist Wants To Know Why Rick Scott Is Sucking The Blood From All Those Poors

Former Florida Governor Charlie Crist would like to get that job back, please, and now that he is no longer a RINO and has gone Full Democrat, he is serious about sounding like it. Which is why he is accusing current Gov. Rick Voldemort of putting the Dark Mark on Florida's Poors, by not expanding Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act. In an interview on MSNBC Friday, Crist told Chuck Todd,

"About a million of my fellow Floridians are not getting health care today, and I am told by friends SEIU [sic], that means six people in Florida die every day as a result of that. Every day."

We are going to assume that the [sic] there indicates he meant to say "my friends at SEIU," though it would maybe be cool if the Quakers were unionizing.

Yr Wonkette wouldn't usually stand up for the likes of Rick Scott, but we just want to point out that he actually does have a healthcare initiative for poor people -- he gives them drug tests. 

TPM notes that a Harvard study predicted higher death rates in states that elected not to expand Medicaid coverage, but Crist didn't specifically mention that study. (Six people a day per state, though? Sounds unlikely... reference needed, Mr. Crist!) Even if his math may be off, we think that he's on the right track in in saying that Alan Grayson had it right:

"It's not hard to figure that out. It's common sense. Look at it. If people are sick, and they aren't getting health care, what happens? They usually get sicker," Crist said. "Or they die. I mean, those are just the facts, Chuck. That's what happens. In addition to it, it's economically stupid. As a result, we're not getting $51 billion over the next 10 years for the health care institutions in Florida. So the people get better health care, so that kids don't get sick, that we take care of people. That's what public servants are supposed to do. That's why I'm running against Rick Scott, because he's not a good servant."

"Take care of people"? Save money by preventing illness? What sort of socialist drivel is that? For what little it's worth, Gov. Scott actually did call for Medicaid expansion last year, but has not made any moves to advocate for it after the Lege blocked it. On the other hand, he has been campaigning on expanding drug testing for benefits, even after a court ruled against that program. 

Under the New Rules of Civility, we predict that it's just a matter of time before Twitchy accuses Crist of calling for Rick Scott to face lethal injection, what with accusing him of murder and all.
