Has-been fiddle man Charlie Daniels would just like to make a very, very important point that no one has ever noticed before: It is possible to disagree with Barack Obama because of your heartfelt convictions without automatically being a racist. We would just like to go on the record as stating that we fully agree with Mr. Daniels. Of course, when your heartfelt convictions are a batshit crazy stew of John Birch Society tropes, why would you need to throw racism in on top of everything else?
I'm sorry I bought tickets to see him. I'd hoped he was not as backwards as he use to be. He was worried about Obama and marshal law. The damn Republicans are now working with the Russians. Saw him in concert at the Texas fair where he repeatedly used the "N word" and other racial slurs while discussing how superior the white race was. I was shocked that anyone would make such comments onstage for fear of being rushed or have beer bottles thrown at him. Sadly, the crowd cheered at the disgusting things he said. I was with my Mexican American girlfriend...didn't feel safe at all...got the hell out of there.
Charlie Daniels' claim to fame is 1 good song that came out in 1979. All the rest of his material, before and after is pure inbred white trash, cross burning shit. He's nothing but a parasite who profits from the trailer trash population's anger, blaming all minorities for their own failures in life. I defecate on his beliefs and those of his followers. Not only do I defecate, I WILL charge them for the PRIVILEGE of my production and my time. May he, and they all is followers die of AIDS. Any cracker that's as old as me or Charlie Daniels has got at least a little bit of leftover racist somewhere in there. It comes from the unavoidable context of where and when you were a little kid.
My mom spent thirty years teaching first through third grade black kids in central Milwaukee. All of her friends, during my childhood and youth, were black teachers. And she still had a little core of small-town Wisconsin racism that you could see once in a rare while.
I grew up in an all-white (very Jewish) suburb. Except for my mom's friends, and the guys we would go play pickup hoop against, I didn't meet a black person until I was in college.
Okay, this anecdote is rambling. I have black friends. And, I'm more comfortable with black folks who are more "mainstream", so there's still a bit of racism in there.
If I have a point, it's this: I know I'm sort of programmed for racism, so I try really hard not to act that way. I think that "not acting racist" is probably about the best people my age can do. I also think I've been fairly successful, but it's only other people who can properly evaluate that.
So, back to the original topic: Charlie Daniels is both an asshole and a racist.
