Charming Oregon Militia Dudes Totally Harmless, Except For The Murderer Maybe
What up, revolutionary white dudes camped out in Oregon? You still doing that or did you run out of vegan jerky and that one granola bar ? Oh, you are still doing that. Maybe you're enjoying all those free sex toys. That's probably it.
While the feds are patiently waiting, for some reason (it is because you are white dudes, that's the reason), for you to get bored and hungry and go home, Gov. Kate Brown, and pretty much the rest of the state, is sick of your bullshit:
Brown publicly vented her frustration Wednesday with the armed group of protesters who've taken over a federal wildlife refuge in Harney County, in the southeastern corner of her state. But she's also fed up with federal officials' response to the occupation and urged them to put an end to it.
"The residents of Harney County have been overlooked and underserved by federal officials' response thus far," Brown said during a news conference. "This spectacle of lawlessness must end. And until Harney County is free of it I will not stop insisting that federal officials enforce the law."
Also, this little demonstration in the name of -- what the hell is their cause again? burning down federal land and not having to go to prison for breaking the law? something something guns something? Well, whatever this armed temper tantrum is supposed to be about, it ain't cheap. The governor says it's costing Oregon $100,000 a week while the feds sit around politely waiting for the protesters to run out of pretzels and batteries for their new vibrators.
But what are the feds supposed to do, go in there and arrest these thugs and toss their thuggy thug asses in jail? Come on, other than breaking the law and costing the state lots of money and threatening to shoot The Government if necessary, it's not like they're hurting anyone. Not like those real outlaws who march through the streets carrying signs and chanting slogans about "Hey, police, please don't kill our kids anymore, please and thank you," and shutting down bridges. It's not as if those militia dudes are a threat to anyone.
Well, except for maybe this guy:
Neil Sigurd Wampler drove to Oregon from his home on the California coast earlier this month to join those protesting the arson convictions of father and son ranchers outside Burns.
In August 1977, Wampler, who was 29, was convicted of second-degree murder in the killing of his father, Forey Edward Wampler, in Lake County, California, according to the district attorney's office there and police reports.
Dads, amirite? Sometimes they need murdering (in their sleep!) and according to court documents, Wampler and his dad had some, um, issues. Wampler says no way, man, that's not him, you've got the wrong Neil Sigurd Wampler, but the intrepid reporters at The Oregonian are pretty sure they've got the right guy:
But his unusual name and date of birth matched court and prison records. A commander at the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office also confirmed that the man at the refuge is a convicted murderer he knows as Neil Wampler in California, said Tony Cipolla, a sheriff's office spokesman. The commander identified him by watching a YouTube video of Wampler speaking from Oregon, Cipolla said.
Why is some sheriff's office in California interested in this whackaquack gun lover who wants to overthrow the government by any means necessary, including shooting his gun at everyone? Oh, they're just wondering if it's kosher for this convicted murderer who did time for murdering to have a gun in the first place. Seems like a reasonable concern.
But then, where does it say you give up your right to be armed and dangerous while illegally occupying a government building, just because you murdered your dad one time? Nowhere, that's where, at least not in the Second Amendment anyway, and really, when you think about it, isn't that the only law that matters?
