United Airlines has perhaps not had the best year so far, public relations-wise. Just two weeks ago they wouldn't let some little girls fly on a plane because their leggings were just too sexxxy. Then, the entire internet was grossed out on Monday following the release of video footage of aviation officers
is it any wonder i plan to take a week off of work to drive to california in the fall, rather than submit to a cavity search by the tsa, and be treated like a inmate by prison guards posing as flight attendants, just to be able to fly?
I was flying from Phoenix to Columbus, Ohio (don't remember the airline, its been that long) when they had an overbooking situation. They came out and announced it before boarding and offered everyone who volunteered a free upgrade to first class. No problem finding volunteers.
i got offered the $1,000 many years ago when it was a thing - i took it and flew the next day - now a grand just ain't enough when you have a seat - every part of this story is sadly what america is all about -
If you keep clicking on a person's avatar, even if they have set their profile to private, if you look on the lefthand side of the page you will see when they joined disqus. It isn't foolproof, but at least you can still find out when a person set up the profile they are currently using to try to decide if they really are trolling. Anyway, save those memes-- you're gonna need them for the real trolls. :D
And yah, I have seen some of the memes here, and some that I cannot unsee .....
I saw there has been some of that. I also saw a lot of folks of different political persuasions responding that "yeah! he PAID for his seat, the fact United could not handle scheduling isn't HIS fault." (I suspect the airlines are not as beloved as they'd like to think. Still, basic courtesy and competence are not unreasonable expectations. I thought) Maybe United can get a flunky to report he said bad words too. WTF is wrong with United? They could not handle the scheduling, BUY a ticket on a competitor and send the GD flt crew that way. Some idiot mgr thought he could force the issue, now United is getting the kind of publicity you can't buy. Usually because no PR firm would advise they should.
I'm not talking about the movies or megaplexes, I'm talking about high-end theater, where tickets are quite expensive, and yes, the margins are also extremely narrow. Sorry no one on this thread seems to consider "theater" to mean ACTUAL theater and not the movies. Jesus.
The Doctor felt that protecting his one remaining job took precedence, by fighting to stay on the plane so that he could show up for work the next day. They ( United Airlines and Corporate Officers ) could've de-escalated the situation by noting his considerable objection and asking some one else to get off the plane. Also think that the Media's revealing in detail his past felonies is extremely biased and unorthodox journalism, that violates his right to privacy. Not everyone has the time or money to fight battles like these in court.

Aer Lingus....tee hee.
I'll see myself out.

In related news, Chicago Aviation Police are essentially glorified mall cops who have been campaigning for years to be armed. Fat chance, guys.

So, the message here is that if you're asked to debark because they overbooked the plane, you damned well better say, "Yes, please"?
Are you still allowed to say, "Fuck you" to every airline employee you encounter?
Oh, they were serving. Serving their corporate masters, who are the only ones who count in this country.
And the smearing of the victim has already begun. Not sure how it is relevant that he had some issues in his past. We all do.

The new slogan will no doubt be...The Chicago P.D : Beating the shit out of people since 1968!
As long as you don't mind those pesky "no fly lists".

At least that long.
