I actually had respect for my Republican governor (OH) when he listened to his health director and shut things down early. Then, he gave into the crazies when they went crazy about opening things up, and he gave into the crazies when they went crazy about mandatory masks, and his health director resigned after receiving death threats and protests at her home that included AR15-toting protesters coming up on the porch and peering into the windows of her house.
Yeah, here in the NY/NJ area you might force your way into a store without a mask, but no one would check you out. Even at a self-checkout counter your register would be disabled.
